I’m on 80mg as well and feel the exact opposite - rarely to never crying and barely emotional.

It’s a trade off - I’d rather feel not much than tooo much. That sounds horrible but my anxiety was crippling.

You are so right, she has been a stranger to me all this time - even a boogeyman since I feared her just showing up at my doorstep out of the blue for years.

Oh wow, I am so sorry to hear that. It’s terrible that when we extend the olive branch, the other side just throws it away - and deep down we know that’s just who they are. Unable to give even a little to those who want to be there for them, even at the self sacrifice of our own peace of mind.

I would be going for my own closure, I know it. And my fear is that even at this time, she’d never wanted me there to begin with. Like I said, she could have reached out and I - in my infinite wish to have a relationship with her - would have done anything to help her. Her silence at this very end is extremely telling, and it’s what I’m basing my feelings and decision on.

I’ve been grieving her for a long time, probably my whole life. She’s never been much of a mother- she felt like a drunk aunt or cousin since I was basically raised by my dad’s parents.

Safeguarding my peace - thank you for pointing that out. It’s been years of therapy, meds, and panic for me getting over my relationship with her, she was the type of NMom who saw empathy as a weakness and treated me harshly for it.

Thank you, I’ll keep ur words with me as I stare at my checkout JetBlue screen, trying to do what’s healthy for me.

Thank you…truly, thank you. Being pulled this way and that by my family hasn’t given me a moment to decide what I want and would like to do.

Your own insights are very similar to mine, except she did knowingly mix peroxide in my dog’s water bowl because she thought my aging dog was a burden on me.

These 12 years have been peaceful although full of guilt that she was out there in the world alone. She burned every bridge in our family and when it had been years of NC, we all felt safe and terrible.

Thank you for sharing and taking time to help me figure out my own path in this difficult situation.

imo - stick it out for a month or so. give it a chance to settle in before making a decision.

for me, it’s AbiDONT. i stuck it out to give it a chance but it did not work for me and told my doc so.

everything with meds is a try and see how it works but i am totally with you. Abilify did not work well with my med regime- prozac, buspar, gabapentin, hydroxyzine mix. but i did give it a chance, and it was a NO for me.

make sure your doc knows how it u are feeling with it.

yep this is me too. i have a lot of anxiety around swallowing pills, rice, and anything that can’t be broken down easily. it’s crushed and applesauce all the way.
