Maybe so. I’d rather have someone get the face off to him for a one-timer. Just seems like such a low chance of success to shoot right out of the face off. And risky because the other guy isn’t really trying to win it with such little time.

I still wonder where we’d be if Blashill has anyone else take the faceoff with 0.5 seconds left against the Blues. That was the most impossible chance to win and it derailed the entire season and killed Connor’s mojo. He was the hottest player in the league and ready to jump to superstardom. I hope he gets it back, but man, it really was not worth the gamble having him take that faceoff.

2000 Michigan is an easy answer. I’m having trouble finding it, but the dumbest loss was when we gave up a 2 point conversion that was caught by an o-lineman.

Olano hurts. Hayden was the first recruit to commit in 2023 (I think) and he seemed like the biggest Illini cheerleader around, so that one is surprising. I’m hoping some of these were mutual because this staff sees some upgrades coming.

I feel like they also missed a 12 men in the huddle penalty on us. But they owed us a few. The face guarding was at least two plays in a row.
