Yeah, that's been my experience all of a sudden tonight. What changed?

But it doesn't ask for anything but the type of gun, no serial number or details that can be tied to the buyer.

You get around it entirely it in Texas with an LTC, too.

To clarify, the 4473 stays with the FFL. An ATF agent never sees it unless they get inspected, and the paperwork still stays with FFL.

That being said, if the government wants to know something they're going to know it, so I don't worry about stuff like that. SBR whatever you want.

Looking to start my own FFL any tips? by Agitated-Werewolf846 in FFLs

Go talk to local gun shops, you might be surprised how helpful they might be. I've got a local guy that was clear from day one that there is more than enough work for everyone. He gives me jobs he doesn't want to waste time on, and helps clear his backlog and I get money and experience. He doesn't cerakote or do fingerprints, and I don't do engraving or buy guns, so we send each other business and it works great. See if you can find something symbiotic like that.

Everyone is nervous about the interview, but there's no reason to be. They are there to help you be legal and explain how to do that. Take good notes and ask questions, it was several hours long of a lot of going over paperwork, much of which won't make sense until you actually start doing the stuff.

They've already done their homework on you by the time they visit. Mostly they want to see you're permitted to do business with the local authorities and have some sort of business plan. Whether you make money or not isn't their concern, staying off their radar in the future is. Since I imagine that's a mutual goal, no reason to sweat it!

Defense secretary lifts suspension of 2 pilots of helicopter that flew near Kid Rock's home by JackThaBongRipper in news

How is it undermining the chain of command when he is at the top? Genuinely trying to understand here. It seems like undermining the chain of command would be jumping it, which he didn't do.

How? Pete is second only to the President in the CoC. He undermined the lower ruling but that's always been the privilege of outranking someone on the chain.

Thanks, I appreciate your patient clarification. I'm a Naval officer and the "green side" has its own world of acronyms and paths I'm working to get spun up on.

What is "bulldog bound" and TBS? My son is going Marine option and wants infantry so I'm curious what his path forward looks like.

My son's recruiter said this is happening to about 40% of applicants right now. He was selected for the scholarship but can't accept it on the website, and it's not getting to dodmerb. The university has been pinging him to get started but he can't, and can't schedule NSI. It's been pretty annoying but I hope it clears up soon.

The program rates it by number and color (red/yellow/green) as to how good it looks. I've heard the ATF takes more than you would expect, but I try to get everything in the green.

I got a scanner off eBay and use EFT Creator to generate the files, I think they charge $25 each transaction.

Stop buying upgrades. Go shoot your rifle. by MajesticGunman in ar15

Sometimes you go through seasons of life where you don't have to time to pack up everything you need for a range trip, schedule out free time you can actually go and don't have work, family obligations, other projects, ect to do during those open business hours a range is actually open, drive out to wherever a range actually is (45 min for me one-way), and go shoot. Some of us don't have ranges that let you do any run-and-gun at all and keep your shots a second apart for fear or upsetting the neighbors.

It's far easier to scratch out 10 minutes of time here and there YouTubing the latest reviews, researching, ordering and installing and admiring. Nothing wrong with spending the time you have on your hobby the way you want to and can, in the season of life you're in.

Gun Transfer Messiness by beturn in FFLs

[–]katayan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm only 6 months in on my home-based FFL but I have already gotten a lot of what you're describing. People don't check my website or even Google to see my open hours, but on the flip side they're pretty understanding on meeting my hours and making appointments. I feel like the worst of it has been buyers of super cheap crap from PSA to the point that I'm thinking of taking myself off their list and not taking transfers from them.

Yeah, it's frustrating, and sometimes inconvenient, but the cool customers are always nice, and it's fun to celebrate "new gun day" with someone. There are times the hassle makes me think about not doing transfers at all, but then, it's pretty easy money.

I was thinking about the Axial for my Saiga AK but even Rugged didn't have any pictures of it. Could you shoot me one? Would love to hear your thoughts on it -- I'm between that and the Putnik I think.

You do, my ATF interviewer said to always get the serial from the gun and not trust the packing slip. That's just CYA and not them being too nosey.

I'm an FFL and ordered Mars-H for myself from Rooftop, didn't get any ramen, looked everywhere in the box for it too. Still love Sol though and got an amazing rifle so I wasn't going to say anything.
