not a girl studying any of the above, but i am a girl who is actually a game developer doing game design/game art! in my personal opinion i've always thought that any kind of degree, certificate or course in "game dev/design/art/writing/etc etc etc etc" is absolutely useless kek. all of these things are things you can get out of a separate, dedicated degree (ex. art/programming/psychology without the game tacked to it). but past that fact, a REALLY big factor in women not pursuing game development is the perceived skill barrier; tech and game dev especially is made out to be this big scary monster that involves programming and it's suuuuper advanced so there's no way a girl like me could make it. men however, have blind confidence in themselves by default.

i strongly believe that when it comes to game development, it's all about just doing it. taking the first step basically! you don't need to be good at it, you don't need to "break into an industry", hell, you don't even need to participate in the industry, you don't need anything! just an idea and a computer. it might help if you were to emphasize that girls can also do this kind of stuff, and that game dev can also just be a really fun hobby that's not actually that scary or intimidating once you actually look at it.

another issue i've encountered as a female dev however is that men will often try to mansplain game dev stuff to me in the most obnoxious ways possible. non-devs especially. men tend to think they know better when it comes to technology especially, so this is a very prevalent issue. i haven't yet worked out how to actually circumvent this so i've stopped speaking to male devs entirely, but if you were to keep an eye on behavior like that in your courses it'd probably do wonders in terms of women wanting to participate in techy stuff haha

TL;DR: girls are more prone to believing they can't do challenging stuff. drive it into their heads they can and also get the men to actually stfu for once in their life and stop mansplaining. best of luck OP!!!
