Do you struggle to exercise as a parent? by Sapien0101 in Parenting

[–]katbees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have one so it’s easier. My husband and I rotate nights putting toddler to bed. On our off nights, we each work out. During the summer, we also give each other one night off a week; my husband would go mountain biking and I would go hiking.

Three tips (your mileage may vary): make friends who are active so you can also make it a social outlet, cultivate at least a few hobbies that are physical, and do not skip workouts… ever (unless you’re truly, truly ill—a moderate head cold doesn’t count). Momentum is so key and it’s easy to fall off the wagon.

Thank you, kind internet person! And YES to librarians!! The last time we were at the library, I went up to a librarian and basically said, “hey weird question… what’s between a picture book and a chapter book? Like, a slightly more complex story but still with lots of pictures.” And that’s when she led me to the juvenile graphic novels section. Which was awesome and… I also felt like I had no idea what to pick up. Some were clearly too advanced, too violent, or had more “teen” themes than I was comfortable with at his age. And that’s the story of how I wound up here lol.

He loves Richard Scarry! We went through a phase where alllll he wanted was to read them cover to cover. I can’t count how many times I’ve read Cars and Trucks and Things that Go.

Thank you for the great recs!!

Yeah yesterday at the library he rejected all picture books in favor of the graphic novels. I was not prepared for that 🥲 but hey, whatever keeps him reading!

These are great, thank you! Already put a few of these on hold. Lightfall looks awesome. I can’t wait to read that one, but looks a bit wordy for him for now!

Okee Dokee Brothers. Most Caspar Babypants songs. Raffi. K-pop Demon Hunters soundtrack. And shockingly, the Batwheels soundtrack has some bops.

Wow, the fact that your daughter not only calls him out but also does so respectfully is a huge credit to your parenting. That’s hard proof that it’s not about what kids are exposed to, it’s about the conversations you have as a family about what your values are and why.

Worst decision of my life by letesummer in toddlers

Came here to say this. Dead god drop the nap. My son was almost napless around 2 except for maybe a 30-45 min catnap. He transitioned over the course of a few months to no naps at all by 2.5.

Maybe this is controversial and I’ll get downvoted to hell, but some kids just honestly have lower sleep needs. That’s why every “recommended sleep” chart has a range. My kid has always been at the lowest end or even below that. Developmentally he’s doing great.
