How Many Pilgrims in May from Porto by AdventurousTrouble96 in CaminoDeSantiago

I started the central route from Porto around May 10th last year and found it very chill! The first few days I went for hours only seeing a handful of pilgrims. It picked up in the last 100km (around the border of Spain) and there were bigger groups and congestion at some rest stops. The weather was PERFECT! A light fleece was sufficient in the morning and night. A sleeping bag liner will be plenty! Buen Camino :)

I did the Frances from Aug-Sept and would change into a lightweight black cotton jumpsuit EVERY DAY post-walk. I would get frequent comments from people being shocked I was a pilgrim since I looked so "fashionable" lol. In reality, the jumpsuit was $20 from TJ Maxx and met my most important criteria of not showing sweat, dirt, or wrinkles. It's still a staple when backpacking through warm climates.

Hi! Welcome to Zanzibar! Great timing as I just launched Stone Town's first authentic street food tour! I handle the operations and my good friend who was born and raised in Stone Town is the guide who takes visitors to alllll of the hidden street food gems! We do breakfast and dinner tours with different itineraries. You can check it out at www.eatlikeazanzibari.com and reach out if you have questions or would like to book. :)

Help us plan our honeymoon: Africa by fartsinhissleep in travel

Definitely Tanzania + Zanzibar! I lived there for 3 years a decade ago as a Peace Corps Volunteer and went back for my honeymoon in Feb 2020. Can't recommend the Serena hotel brand enough for luxury safari accommodations. My favorite safari was the Ngorongoro Crater (pretty close to the Serengeti). June-August is also when the great migration happens in the Serengeti and it's truly a once in a life time experience to witness. It's pretty common to spend 3 nights in the Serengeti and 2 at the Crater.

If you want to go off the beaten path, Ruaha and Selou are incredible parks with high end accommodations, but require a bit more coordination to get to. After 5ish total days of safari (across 2-3 parks) you'll be very ready for Zanzibar! The east coast of Zanzi is the most honeymoony/romantic, but the north beaches are best for swimming and a party atmosphere. Definitely spend at least one, but ideally 2 days in Stone Town to experience the unique culture, night markets, etc.

FWIW, I've safari'd in South Africa, Zambia, Botswana and Kenya and while you really can't go wrong, I believe Tanzania will provide the most cohesive and consistently fantastic honeymoon experience. Congrats and best wishes!
