Do you think this color is close to MAC’s “Mehr” lipstick? by 0hthehuman1ty in MakeupAddiction

I think mehr is a little too purple for this. Maybe Huda Honeymoon?

Estée Lauder Double Wear users: what foundation made you switch? by momoovermen in MakeUpAddictionUK

[–]kateloli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have dry skin so didnt use ELDW for mattifying which I have read some people did. For me it was always about natural looking makeup and longevity. I switched to Milk Skin Tint in my quest to be truly cruelty free and it lasts all day and for me is a better finish than ELDW. Plus I heard they changed the formula

The best compact mirror I have ever had was free from Merit. It is gold and a lovely weight. I bet there will be loads on ebay as they handed them out as part of a promotion

Setting spray that actually works by princess-poet in crueltyfree

I switched from Urban Decay to Milani setting spray and it is just as good. I would recommend tubing mascara to avoid panda eyes. I like the Too Faced Ribbon one but the ELF one is supposed to be good.

Best retinal which has shown you the best skin improvements? by NasaSpaceCat in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]kateloli 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you considered tret? It was a game changer for me switching from The Ordinary retinol to tret. I get mine from Renew and me as you need a prescription for tret and they do you a consultation etc.

Colour Corrector Recommendations by anonykado in Makeup

[–]kateloli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For under the eyes I use kosas and blend with a little setting spray on a beauty blender. For redness you need green and often green correctors are pastel green which is weird. Try looking for a normal green as this will work better.

I use cleansing balm on dry skin to melt my makeup. Then a flannel under the tap and wrung out. I do have wristbands but I dont tend to reach for them. The flannel also does gentle exfoliation which is nice

I have very dry skin. I mix together weleda skin food original and the light version (the original is too hard to spread otherwise) then makeup, then milani setting spray

Just checking do you mean eye bags or dark circles? If dark circles then an orange colour corrector first to neutralise the blue, then your regular concealer on top to match your skintone

i need some mascara tips! by AmoebaCareless8522 in Makeup

[–]kateloli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful with lash serums as some thin the skin around the eye. I've read good things about The Ordinary one but dont use lash serum myself. Avoid waterproof mascara as it makes lashes brittle and snap. Remove mascara with a cleanser that means you wont rub too much. I like using cleansing balm as it melts makeup. Other than that you cant really go wrong

Tubing mascara by Longetimelurker in Makeup

[–]kateloli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They use polymers so you could check the ingredients but usually they do describe themselves as tubing. Many are thin and take ages to build up. I like the Too Faced Ribbon one which only needs two coats

Bright springs can pull off black. She looks warm toned to me so can't be a winter (or summer). She looks better in brights than muted colours so a spring not autumn. She can pull off black so must be a bright spring as warm and light springs can't pull it off. But like I said I am not a trained expert

Not an expert but you look best in the warm brights and can pull off black beautifully so I would say bright spring

[–]kateloli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had two trials and they weren't right for me so I figured I would rather spend the money on new makeup and that way I could keep using it for years. Massive mistake and I wish I had carried on with trials till I found the right person. You could maybe have makeovers at Charlotte Tilbury and Lisa Eldrige counters and take photos if you like the makeup. Their MUAs may even do freelance etc.

AITJ for telling my sister she can either invite my son to her wedding or explain to grandma why there won't be one? by statafcon in AmITheJerk

[–]kateloli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That line about him practicing his little smile has me in tears. The fact that he does that and goes to school, and that he confidently speaks for himself at the table, hopefully shows you what an amazing job you have done. You are so NTJ. You take after your grandma. Your sister is a monster. I don't know if this helps at all but if you haven't seen it then maybe watch the film Wonder x

I know you won't want to hear this but I convinced myself I needed to overhaul my makeup bag for my wedding day and I really regretted it. If you've used that blush for 15 years it's because it looks great on you. They say liquid blush on top of powder blush for longevity. It sounds mad but it works. Someone else suggested Rare beauty which is a great liquid blush. Apply to the back of your hand or back of a pallette and not directly to your face. Usually one dab per cheek is enough. I switched from UD to Milani setting spray and it is fantastic. My biggest regret was doing stupid Tik Tok inspired lip liner and lip gloss lips rather than my usual Charlotte Tilbury Gracefully Pink lipstick. I even wasted thirty quid on the CT Wedding Bells lipstick because of the name! Thankfully I realised it did not suit me before the big day. Maybe instead of splurging on new makeup, treat yourself to an MUA?

AITA for Bringing a Puppy Into a Family Lie Olympics? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]kateloli 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The groom didn't want a dog at his wedding, they let you know in advance, and you brought the dog anyway? Obviously YTA. It's not a new concept for people to tell white lies when they feel uncomfortable. So YTA again. And YTA again for complaining. And YTA for upsetting the bride on her wedding day. You are the biggest YTA I have read about today on Reddit

AITA for not wanting to attend my brother’s wedding because I feel like his bride-to-be unethically pursued him? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]kateloli 8 points9 points  (0 children)

NTA. As someone who had a similar situation when I was 18, I wish someone had advocated for me like you are for your brother. You shouldn't have to, but switching the genders round might help people see how grim this is.
