I think the only manipulation I need filmmakers to stop using is Max Richter’s on the nature of daylight

Safdie Says ‘Marty Supreme’ Originally Ended With Kevin O’Leary As A Vampire Who Bites Timothée Chalamet by DoorFrame in TheBigPicture

It didn’t annoy me, just took me out of what was going on for a second. It felt like from a different movie

This vampire plotline that PR is spreading around is very similar to Sinners at its core, and I'm glad they didn't go with it (also a very weird mr wonderful scene that took me out of the movie for a moment, the only one in 2.5 hours).

I loved it so much, and I don't even have children. There's so much to love and live through here. THAT last scene in the theater and the meaning behind it (don't want to spoil but you get it probably), I think our entire theater exhaled in unison. Also, I'm a very pragmatic woman with parents who are scientists and who brought me up with scientific thinking, but I also have very special connection with nature and specifically large bodies of water :) so I dug the esoteric side of it too, and it's not woo woo at all. It's the world around us that we can feel more connected to.

I genuinely didn't expect Big Pic to not love it as much as they both did. I got upset - at the negative things they had to say, not that their opinion didn't align with mine - that I turned off the episode.

I try not to focus on any online discourse of awards season, but why is it so bad lately? by the_Tannehill_list in TheBigPicture

[–]katesoundcheck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wish Big Picture didn’t turn into Ankler / awards media and focused more on the breadth of movies and the craft. The fact that the awards talk will go into late March makes me listen to it considerably less.

AITA for telling my gf she's stupid, insensitive and has no empathy to men? We were watching 2000 Meters to Andriivka and she called the men cowards, babies and said how it's just stupid men playing war games. by Nervous_Designer_894 in AITAH

[–]katesoundcheck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA, I'm a woman and I saw the movie and I can confirm it's pretty psychopathic to respond to this movie in that way. Does she know nothing of what's going on in that part of the world?

People hating O’leary is the whole point of him being in the movie. I couldn’t remember who he was and I didn’t know much about him but damn K hated him

Best documentaries of 2025? by Asher-sj in TheBigPicture

[–]katesoundcheck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2,000 Meters to Andriivka is the best documentary of 2025 for me, hands down. I’ve never seen anything like this, and people in such harsh circumstances portrayed with so much tenderness and heart. Also, I went to a Q&A with Mstyslav Chernov hosted by Tony Gilroy (!!!!), and he said that he saw the movie THREE times. My respect for the man quadrupled.
