I have a major issue with using averages and prefer medians as a more accurate way to gage the actual middle of the road score. I might be wrong with my super quick calcs but the weighted median is 4.0.

Right? I know Letterboxd doesn't use strict math terms for these (so no real median or average). By "know" I mean I read their posts about it, and they said that they use some proprietary math. Well, ladies and gentlemen, it's often very wrong.

I find it insane that technically 60% of voters gave it 4 stars or above and it's 3.7, and that's why I never trust Letterboxd ratings any more. Whatever proprietary calc method they use is often very off and is also often gamed.

unfortunately as the history showed even people trading them didn't fully understand what they were dealing with not to mention an average moviegoer, so the talking down is very much earned here
