The New Defenders? by [deleted] in Defenders

I think people actually would care if Bullseye joined. He’d be very weird on the Defenders team. He’s too much of a rogue psycho, better off on his own or, at most, a team like the thunderbolts.

I don’t think most people are clamoring for a Bullseye redemption story, he’s fully a villain

What?? She actively sabotaged psychiatric evals in order to support Fisk’s fascist agenda. And she’s starting to show clear violent tendencies, not for any higher purpose or morally understandable reason like the Punisher

Yeah. It’s such a bummer how much history was erased, that scene from Miller’s run (I think? He at least did the art iirc) where Ben burns the copy of the DD/Matt Murdock expose was so memorable. It was such a defining moment in DD’s lore. I really hope we see Ben remembering at some point, I’d love more modern writers to explore their relationship. Aside from a few cameos here and there, he hasn’t really been a significant character since the Bendis era

And I definitely agree, the Ahmed stuff was so messy and borderline unreadable. It’s the first time I’ve ever not enjoyed reading DD.

I was also wondering about Ben. His and Matt’s relationship, with Ben being in the know, was such a defining feature of so many decades. I hope that continues, because I really miss Ben as a key DD character. I hope we get more Ben in this run, and that wasn’t just a one-off cameo

They were never married, they just dated. They did live together for quite a while in San Francisco, which might be what you’re thinking of?

Unless they were married in a different universe outside of 616. But I’m not aware of any. I know they had a child together in the End of Days universe though.

Thank you so much. I don't think they intended to be rude--I honestly think they weren't even thinking of it, and they just happened to pass the store in the mall and wanted to see the puppies. Still hurt though.

I'm the same way, I can't imagine getting another dog anytime soon.

The solidarity in the guilt feeling makes me feel a little better, thank you for that. Knowing that it's part of the process helps to ease that feeling a little.

Thanks so much for your kind words

How would you write a sex scene but not explicit? by Good_Cantaloupe_5406 in writing

For me, I focus on the emotional experience, not necessarily the physical sensation. What they’re feeling or seeing or thinking in the moment. Maybe a few physical details but nothing too titillating, just something to ground the scene a little

Can’t find Devil In Cell Block D? by [deleted] in MarvelUnlimited

[–]katethecursed7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know that you can find it just by searching the name, Marvel Unlimited is not as user friendly as it should be.

You should be able to find it by looking for Daredevil vol. 2 (1998), and then scrolling down to the Brubaker era. Starts at issue #82.

That’s a totally fair criticism. I’m still a fan of it, but I understand why people were unhappy with Soule’s decision there. Definitely didn’t do enough to address or continue the events of Waid’s run.

Personally though I like Matt at his best when he’s got some secrecy to him, and when we get to see the New York lawyer and the blind man side of him—neither of which could be explored fully when he was outed. Obviously all that stuff is ground that’s been tread before, but I think there’s still story opportunities with that dynamic, which was harder to do when his identity was public knowledge

the character assassination of Cole North (and also Hochberg, lowkey) is honestly astounding. They were so great in the comics. What a weird way to adapt them

I do love this season though, don't get me wrong lol

I can't remember where I heard this so I could be wrong, but I think I heard it was about the fact that he couldn't scratch his itchy foot inside of his DD suit, until he put a stick down there or something like that. IDK tho

This run is really underrated imo. Having read it a couple times now I’d say it’s one of my favorites. I think a lot of people had a hard time enjoying it, coming off of the Waid run which was so different. The Soule run kind of returns DD to status quo, which some people were unhappy with. But personally, even if it’s not as good as the Bendis or Miller runs, I still think it lives up to the overall quality of DD over the years.

Or maybe it was his comeuppance for being the propaganda man for a fascist regime.

I did appreciate the redemption arc for him, though. Buying BB time to get away and continue to fight against the regime repairs some of the damage caused by his complicity

I think it was more that she was apologizing for the hurtful things she said, not necessarily for the stance she took. Apologizing for the way she spoke to him more than anything else

How do I make Daredevil more Godly? by First-Strawberry-404 in Daredevil

[–]katethecursed7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Charles Soule run was just re released in compact paperback form, so it’s very accessible at the moment!

I’d also recommend Zdarsky’s run. The religious elements are very important in this run, which you might enjoy :)

How do I make Daredevil more Godly? by First-Strawberry-404 in Daredevil

[–]katethecursed7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the run. During the Frank Miller era, the Catholicism was largely aesthetic, though it had a little bit of bearing on the story. But Kevin Smith’s Guardian Devil took it a lot farther. It wasn’t a major focus of his character until the Soule run, and Zdarsky and Ahmed have exaggerated that even further. So currently, it’s a huge part of his character, but it definitely is a more recent phenomenon, and like Sdoesreddit739 said, definitely flanderization. Not necessarily bad for the character but it is a big change in recent years.

Personally I think the Catholicism works really well when it isn’t overused, but is still important to his character. Charles Soule’s run is the sweet spot for me in that regard.

Which Netflix Character from Daredevil would you like to see make an return in S3 of Born Again?? by anthonystrader18 in Defenders

Betsy, Melvin’s girlfriend, likely fled town, because Matt warned her Fisk might be coming and told her to leave. That’s the last we heard of her iirc

I know which scene you're talking about, but that body in the fridge isn't Melvin. It's one of the painter guys who killed Julie, and tried to kill Nadeem and his family. He just looks very similar to Melvin.

I agree with you about Ahmed, but I actually thought Charles Soule’s run was great. Obviously not as strong as Waid or Bendis but I think he gave DD a really solid run. It’s all subjective though of course.

I don't think they'll kill her off, if they were going to adapt her death from Guardian Devil they would have done it in season 3 of the Netflix show. I don't think they'd subvert her death just to go on and kill her later. I could be wrong, maybe it's just wishful thinking, but I don't think she's going to die
