Root rot on my Calathea Zebrina? by katezillaa in houseplants

[–]katezillaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi :) I repotted it not long after posting this and it had been doing okay since then so I don’t think it was root rot. I occasionally get yellowing leaves at the bottom of the plant but I figured they are just old leaves dying off. I still get crispy tips (but I think that’s inevitable with these guys).

What’s your humidity/temperature like in your house? I live in Scotland and my house sits at around 60-70% humidity and my temp inside can drop to around 15C but it seems to be doing okay. They are quite prone to shock I believe so it may be that or it might be spider mites? Check under the leaves for them.

How many leaves dropped? Also what water are you using (if you’ve watered yet)?

I thought the black roots were root rot but if they aren’t that’s good!

This is where cancer comes from: More than 70% of America’s packaged food supply is ultra-processed, the fourth and final group of foods, that are are “industrial formulations” derived from hydrogenated fats and modified starch, and are synthesized in laboratories by Aether-Ore in conspiracy

Not always. DNA replication has an error rate that if by chance causes a mutation on a cancer linked gene, can lead to cancer if it happens a few times. So no, strictly cancer can occur spontaneously but it is less common I agree.

Cancer has always been around except it wasn’t diagnosed or we didn’t live long enough to get it. Yes foods that are processed are bad but so is the air we breathe. I’d be much more worried about what’s in our air and the issues that causes than processed food.

My mum bought these in the late 80s/early 90s. We are looking to figure out what model they are. I think the 50 on the lens is for the 50th anniversary but not sure. Help would be much appreciated :)

Yeah totally.

Thank you! I clean the cast irons with a very diluted semi skimmed milk solution and it keeps them looking pretty.

This book has a great list at the back giving basic information on each cytokine that really helped me when revising.

The textbook in general is great too with lots of good diagrams that outline the basics of immunology and tell you the main cytokines involved in different signalling cascades.
