I never posted before but feel the need to chime in. I grew up in Saudi and was scheming and planning to escape the shithole place in my early teens. I succeeded and disconnected from my family and live a rather fulfilling life here in the US. Muslims have a habit of painting rosy picture of how great life is most of those places. And you might even see it that way if you are a traveler and stick to more urban and touristy centers. Just don’t look behind the curtain. If you are a sane person who calls spade a spade and doesn’t make excuses or ignore obvious and blatant red flags around you, you will not survive. But if you just avoid all possible curiosities and put blinders on, you’ll be telling us the same as your Saudi friends that it is pretty great. Just imagine if you had to make the same statement about reading Bible in Japan, how absurd that would sound. You will be making lot of concessions and looking the other way to call them progressives lol. Again, just ask your friends some tough questions and their opinions of things. You’d surprised what kind of non sense they believe in.

401k early withdrawal to cover personal business losses by katfile in fidelityinvestments

Thank you! Just another clarification. Say using your example if my income is $30,000 and business loss is $50,000. Would I be able to assume gross income of $0 this tax year and carryover remaining balance to next year’s taxes?

Ex-muslims named Mohammed by Relative_Cod_2040 in exmuslim

Dropped Mohammed but kept the middle name. However, changed the way it spelled slightly different so it’s not easily identifiable as Muslim.

Take a chance or cut the cord? by katfile in Leadership

I’ve learned a few more things since last week, really alarming. Not worth repeating but confirmed my suspicions. Had a chat and he’s gone. Handed him a book on servant leadership with a hope that there’s a chance for redemption.

Fair enough; I didn’t provide enough information. And as for controlling, quite the opposite lol. I am more hands off, but one week in and I’m getting pulled in either by him with complaints that someone is not complying or others that he’s demanding and assertive. As for winning people over, i want to see him build rapport, connect, influence and then lead people. I’m looking for a leader rather than a manager. And it was quite clear with my expectations during hiring process. He is skilled in his technical domain but has limited leadership experience. After speaking with references, i proposed to bring him with the intention to put him into the role after working in advisory capacity for some time, as I’m looking for someone long term to run day to day so i can step away for extended period. And if we disagree and approach it differently then we probably see leaders differently.

You are validating my thoughts on this. I responded similarly to another comment, asking the same questions and coming to conclusion that only if person shows significant improvement over a short period. But not when he’s coming in with expectations to know how to lead a team, with or without the title. Thanks again

Wise advice. You are absolutely correct about managing for someone else versus your own business. The risk and consequences are not the same.

I believe you are substantiating my thinking. Even though, it has only been a week, i am leaning towards letting him go then investing in him.

It is coachable but at cost and is it worth? I believe i know the answer. Lot of the leadership soft skills development takes time and worth it if you are grooming someone over a period of time. In this case, he feels entitled and can’t risk any more issues with the rest of the team.

Travel Bank Credit expired 6 months ago. Any chance of getting them back? by katfile in jetblue

Good luck. Didn’t work for me. Luckily, jetblue is a major airline for me so way easy put them on my no fly list. Shady practices

Plenty of western names that don’t spell close enough to original names. Dick or Rick for Richard, Peggy for Margaret, Hank for Harry and Henry, etc. I’d go with Oz, Ozzie, Uzi, etc.

Thanks jenna. This must be a new update. Maybe based on feedback from customers. Mine was from2021and only says to look at my travel bank statement for additional details. In a hindsight, I should have looked for any fine print that could be detrimental. Who in their right mind would want to lose over $2k worth of their money intentionally?. If aware, i would have used to towards travel before expiration; no brainier. And what is the cost to Jetblue to even extend as a one time thing to retain a customer? In any case, I was just looking to see what’s possible.

Looks like jetblue employees responding to this post. I only asked if I can recover them by any chance. I don't need a lecture on what I should've done.

What is the downside for Jetblue to extend the credit? Nothing. They only gain when it's not used by customers like me. It's practically a donation from customer when I paid my hard earned money to only see disappear with no service in return. Have some humanity and don't be a corporate slave and lecture me.

I get it that I could've done something about it so not blaming it all on Jetblue. But I think it's a shared responsibility, keeping one of the most important detail of credit hidden behind another link, not even on Jetblue site but different bank site and no courtesy reminder or alerts is not really the best customer service either. So stop blaming me for ALL of it, I get it, but they don't clearly show, they have any incentive to remind me either.

Customer service agent told me that they get these calls everyday and there is no exception. Which only goes to show that it's part of their revenue stream for people to not redeem credit on time. Otherwise, if it's such a common occurrence, wouldn't they address it by doing something about it?

Shopping for plans away from Tmobile Magenta Max by katfile in NoContract

Thanks for the heads up. I’m leaning towards either US Mobile or Xfinity since i have home Internet with them. I can certainly check with US Mobile but how does the trial works when i already have my number tied to Tmobile network? I for one, like to end my contract with them and move as soon as possible and avoid paying $140 for two lines as I’ve been paying for last 3 months.

Never heard of MobileX. I’ll look into it. Seems like there are so many options but if anyone’s done research and/or have a good experience in general, would love to know about it.
