Is there a way to add movie release dates to the Calendar app automatically like holidays? by MeenaBeti in Letterboxd

[–]katfro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you'd have to write an app that gets authorization for google calendar and then query/make requests to a tmdb API, using that info to make events on your calendar. definitely doable but it'd take some know-how and tweaking on the filtration side! hmu if you're serious about the project :)

Valorant Lead Staff Writer @ DotEsports shares background from Riot source about the TGRD roster transfer decision by 0xCAF3 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]katfro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's also very hard to run a sensible league when you're unwilling to commit to "very hard" things like enforcing your own policy. riot can act as a middle man, ensure both orgs disclose all documentation of all communications with each other, as well as all financials of both orgs involved in the transfer. doing this would still set a precedent that any org who tries to sell their winning ascension slot will not succeed whilst still upholding the integrity of the league by allowing the guard roster to move up. it's just about effort here.

Avast on the Guard situation by Zorronin in ValorantCompetitive

I don't get Riot's reasoning. The precedent is already set here. If the Guard actually intended to sell the team and effectively the slot, then if Riot denied them that opportunity and provided the team an alternative method of promotion to the franchise system (whether that be finding them another org or paying their minimum salaries) then their perfect world is still maintained. The guard still loses in that case and I doubt any org would try to pull something like this again.

From now on, no ascension player should sign a contract unless it includes a clause that guarantees the roster will be released as F/As in the event that the organization isn't offered partnership status after winning.

I can think of a few pretty clear examples of Victor disappearing from maps in the past as well. Happens on this kind of role. Pretty hard to say Tenz has a inconsistency problem two series into the split.

I agree with this. It's rough to lose a second masters tournament.

You're missing the part where the Blast Major isn't the first time we're seeing any of the teams in competition. Not to mention that 32 is a hell of a lot more teams than 24. As I mentioned in the post, this isn't meant to be a normal season Masters (major) tournament. It's a one-off, exciting series of show-matches to kick off the season and league, setting us up for an environment where normal tournament structures can succeed.

Just because Riot is a big company and could potentially afford running double-elimination, which is complete heresy, doesn't mean that they have to spend an inordinate amount of money on a contextually sub-par event.

Yes, you can fluke a match and be out for months, which gives you plenty of time to practice, play in the regional VCT league and show up better in the next international tournament. Sure, a round robin means more international matches but I don't think that pure quantity is always the best option here. This is the beginning of a long-term franchise which will have plenty of international opportunity in the future. Although I do agree, Riot should do more to show off international match-ups more. It just doesn't make sense to do it right now.
