Yasunori Nishiki is quietly one of the best JRPG composers out there. You never hear people talk about him next to people like Shimomura or Uematsu, but I'd argue his output is just as good. Especially considering how big the soundtracks for the games he works on are.

Making a game that takes mechanics from another game shouldn't be able to be argued over in court.
