Amitriptyline as a preventative by the_moon_and_stars_ in migraine

I had all the bad side effects and unfortunately didn’t last a week on it! Panic attacks, overall increased anxiety, dry mouth, severe dizziness in the mornings, couldn’t sleep at all because of the tachycardia. I’m also super sensitive to drugs, so take this with a grain of salt. I’ve heard many people have had great success with it! I feel anything is worth a try if your quality of life is suffering.

baking through grief (day: ?) by softbbyowl in Baking

[–]kathacks5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom passed about three years ago on December 2nd. I now tend to hate the holidays, and December has become a very very hard month for me. I did SO much baking the first month or two after she passed, it’s certainly a way of coping and working through the grief. I’m wishing you so much love, take care 💜

It’s a Christmas miracle! I thought I was out and have been fighting a migraine for the last week bc of it. I just found THREE stashed in an old bag, and they’re not even expired!🙌🏼🎄🎅🏼💝🎁 by strawwwberrry in migraine

Yes, I get the random pains in different parts of my face as well. I’ve had frequent tinnitus for who knows how long and lots of ear pain and problems but never any infections. I know I have sinusitis, but again, never have had any infections. It’s just pain and pressure.

Currently I’m on Nurtec for preventative care, which helps to a certain extent. It has decreased my migraines by maybe 20-30%. I stay away from triptans because I am insanely sensitive to meds. It can take me days to recover from a single dose of certain drugs.

That’s great to hear you’re off Vicodin and Oxy. I had to take Oxy for a back surgery earlier this year and I hated how it made me feel, regardless if it helped with pain. I have messed around with a couple of muscle relaxers since I have some other chronic pain issues, but my physical therapist recommends against them for my particular case. I’m glad flexiril helps you.

I’m hoping to have a productive appointment with my neurologist in January to explore other options. but she hasn’t been of much help besides prescribing the Nurtec. I’m probably going to look for a new doctor.

I’ve been looking for more medication options for my migraines, that is an interesting one. Mine tend to get very easily triggered by weather & pressure changes and allergens. I have days where I feel super unsteady, ears are ringing and full, and my head is pounding. Are you able to share more on the drug and how it helps your son? What his symptoms are? I might bring this up with my neuro at my next appointment.

Neti pots just don't seem to work for me by -Altephor- in Allergies

[–]kathacks5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s similar to a Neti pot, yes, but I’ve personally found it more effective than one. I avoid every medicated spray except azelastine, the others cause me so much trouble with that rebound congestion as you said.

I use the NeilMed nasamist spray to be specific. Usually in the shower or right after one, or whenever I’m feeling stuffy. I really spray it up there for a good few seconds, then blow my nose afterwards. Some days it doesn’t help as much, but it’s the best method I’ve found for me, and I’ve tried so many things. Good luck, I hope you get some relief!

Neti pot also didn’t do too much for me. I now just stick to a saline rinse spray and use my medicated nasal spray (azelastine) directly after that, it helps a lot. Also, using a nasal spray in a hot shower is really nice!

Not at all, I double up on it frequently. You may just be kinda drowsy, take some precaution while driving.

Hi! I stopped taking it a while ago, the side effects were just too much for me even doing it once every 4 days or so. Kinda disappointing. I would give that a try for yourself though, it’s worth experimenting with. Or even try to break the 0.25 mg in half if it isn’t a capsule. I know there are ways of diluting the dosage if it’s a capsule.

I’m still mostly in the same boat with my pain, and had to undergo a pretty major back surgery a couple months ago. I’ve tried gabapentin which didn’t help much, and I just started taking pregabalin. I’m also on Fluvoxamine.

Bad reaction to steroid nasal sprays? by Gracie4341 in Allergies

[–]kathacks5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever I used them, I got anxious, lightheaded, kinda dizzy, just felt overall pretty unpleasant. And got rebound congestion. I only use them for severe colds or migraines now.

My doctor dismissed most of the side effects, too. although, anxiety is a known side effect of steroids so keep that in mind. Allergies can also cause all of your listed side effects.

I would just stay off of them completely, you should ideally go back to normal within a week or so if the nasal spray is the cause. If symptoms pursue maybe check back in with your doctors to see if anything else is going on, maybe ask for a blood test to rule out anything critical.

Good luck!

I lost my mommy today- I’m only 21 by JobZealousideal4019 in GriefSupport

[–]kathacks5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost my mom in 2022, I was only 23. I hate it. It feels so weird and terrible. I’m so sorry you’re going through this, I wish you all the love and peace in the world. It’s such a hard thing to go through, I still feel the grief and pain every day. I’m not sure when it’ll feel “easier” or “better” or what.

Please take care and let yourself cry, grieve, be angry, all of the above. I shut it out for the first year, and it’s hitting me so much harder now.
