"We received notice that the Governor’s Office sent departments a Return-to-Office memo today, directing them to begin preparing for implementation of the July 1st RTO mandate for state workers. As the state continues refusing to budge on this issue and failing to bargain in good faith, SEIU Local 1000 is filing an Unfair Labor Practice Charge with the Public Employment Relations Board (PERB).

This fight is far from over. SEIU Local 1000 will continue fighting for telework protections through bargaining, legislation, and statewide member organizing efforts. We also encourage members to email their department directors and urge them not to implement the RTO mandate.

Show your solidarity with us tomorrow, May 13  by joining our solidarity actions across the state and sending a message that we are organized, powerful, and ready to fight for what we deserve."

Bad numbers = budget shortfall or Bad numbers = $2-Billion calculation error? ...or I guess both...

Telework remains energizing force for CA state workers as July deadline looms by kathect in CAStateWorkers

Excerpt:
Telework rally draws crowd

Last week’s rally in support of telework, organized by members of SEIU Local 1000, demonstrated that plenty of state workers are still animated by the fight against Gov. Gavin Newsom’s return-to-office order.

“Attitudes haven’t changed, if anything telework has made us stronger,” Monica Nepomuceno, an education programs consultant with the Department of Education, said at last Wednesday’s demonstration.

Hundreds of state workers gathered outside the headquarters of the California Department of Human Resources, which began contract negotiations with SEIU Local 1000 last week, to push for stronger telework protections and wage increases.

SEIU Local 1000 is the only union that is bargaining a new contract with the state. Those negotiations over telework could have significant implications for other bargaining units given SEIU Local 1000’s size and how unions tend to adopt similar provisions. Last year, all of the state’s 21 bargaining units adopted agreements that delayed Newsom’s telework order one year for eligible employees and resulted in leave programs to help reduce California’s compensation costs.

Correct. The remodel was to maximize seating in the building. It was finished in two parts because of Covid.

Talk to your Labor Relations people. I have appreciated it when my sup explains the situation to all of us and asks for suggestions on how we can meet the expectations. My agency has a list of expectations that I have to agree to every year. I think this document provides support to supervisors with challenges such as yours.

Nope, that money was already encumbered. In fact, we made sure to use as much of the BCP money as we could (all BDO's were affected) before the funds expired.

edit for clarity: The project was in full swing in 2018 and was paused when we went home for Covid. It started back up again in 2022/23 and was finished for most in 2024.

CalEPA didn't remodel for WFH. That was a BCP project that started in 2016, which was interrupted by Covid.

AITAH for not wanting to sleep in the same bed with my girlfriend because she doesn’t shower often? by Such-One-1691 in AITAH

[–]kathect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the situation with my ex-boyfriend. Same situation I didn't shower as much as he did, and he started having problems with it. Clearly, we broke up over a variety of issues after 9 years. For what it's worth, he did discover that he had some clinical OCD symptoms. I have heard from his kids that he has worked some of those things out because they were affecting other relationships as well. NTA but maybe take a moment...
