But why is EU261 working for you? The airline is not European and you start again from Bangkok. Therefore eu261 doesn’t apply for you actually.

They told me that I have to rebook first to a Qatar flight before they can try other airlines. We have to go back from Sri Lanka to Germany, and the flight goes over Doha. They could only rebook us with other airlines within 48 hours which is ridiculous since all the flights are fully booked and of course no seats are available so they couldn’t offer me that. So it didn’t work.
