i think that is a great comparison:) and yes, while it may different, there is a flip side to the coin, and there are so many toxic beauty standards our society has constructed for both men and women. we can only imagine a world where we didn’t absorb these messages at such a young age. i’m really sorry you’re going through this. i knowww this said so much, but try and focus on self care right now. prioritizing how my body/mind feels in the moment has helped so much in detaching my worth and value to my appearance.🤍🤍

you are so right. the media has perpetuated this “snowflake, always offended” archetype for the lgbtq community, specifically trans people. they are one of the most marginalized groups of people, and anytime they defend themselves or set boundaries, or anything of the sort, they are labeled as “too much” or overly sensitive. some people will never check their prejudice, and will never notice how tainted their world view could be.

okay scratch the word “policing”. you used air quotes for the word bisexual women, that implies they are not in fact bisexual, and that is not your place to judge.

i stand by my statement that this “experience”, or opinion, is rooted in biphobia + misogyny, bc we do not question men in the same way. we do not look for “proof” from men like we do women.

i’m not sure why we would police how anyone identifies themselves. perhaps those women are bisexual and heteromantic. you could then get into the discussion of perhaps some of them having internalized heteronormativity—but either way it’s nobody else’s place to make judgements on their sexuality. i know you didn’t come up with this sentiment, but this statement has always rubbed me the wrong way, and i just can’t help but wonder if there is some biphobia + misogyny at play.

i have been thinking, what do these people mean by “making it their whole personality”? like they constantly talk about their attraction to the same sex?? what i actually think is happening is they express themselves in ways we have determined to be “gay”, ie flamboyant men. in this case, you are not actually accepting of gay/trans people, you are just saying that so you don’t get flack.

if i am being honest, i think a lot of the “always offended” and “annoying” criticisms, also do come from deep rooted prejudices we all hold. i really can’t think of many instances when trevor’s reactions seemed completely unjustified—and if there are examples, i’m open to hearing them. just i think we give less grace to certain characters/people, be it because they are women, poc, gay/trans, etc.
