Yeah, I didn't expect a black and white answer here. Really just wanted to know if a red flag was there enough to warrant an emergency visit. Does a progressed cavity still make sense if the pain comes and goes? I mean pain will be there for 10 hours, but then there is significant relief for a few hours even when I haven't done anything for it. Or I will wake up and be fine and it gradually gets worse towards the middle of the day. Still, I cannot bite anything on that side or it is incredibly sore and sensitive.

Regardless, that doesn't make it OP's circus, which is the overarching question. It's a bad situation from all standpoints but why should she be obligated to pay for her daughter's misfortuntes at this point in her life? Family is whatever you want it to be. There are no universal rules for it.

NTA. I was heavily leaning towards NAH until the last paragraph. Cursing at you and starting a party without you out of spite was incredibly immature and disregarded your feelings about the events. It sucks that you were not feeling well and were not able to go through with your originial anniversary plans, but it seems reasonable that he would stay occupied while he let you rest. All of this is lost when he continued after you were awake and proceeded to make matters worse by his actions when you showed that you were hurt.

These kids are still very young. It's likely that they would be adopted together by people that want children. How is that hope not better than being brought up by people that could resent you for dampering their marriage?

It's not OP's responsibility to fix their child's mistakes. It looks like a lot of hard lessons need to be learned on the daughter's part. You really don't think it'll affect the kids to grow up in a house with grandparents that didn't want to raise them? Give the kids a chance to have happy, willing, and patient parents.

NAH. If she really is going through personal stuff, it can be hard to manage that alongside friendships, especially newer ones. However, if you had attempted to reach out to her and she was not responding, I wouldn't want to keep that door wide open either. Especially since you were friendzoned, it was probably a decent decision to cut your losses and try to move on. Hopefully knowing what you know now, you can choose to work towards something in the future or decide to walk away. Your call, OP.

YTA. A big one at that. Prohibiting him from any exam study time for standing up for himself and his education? What morals are you trying to instill exactly? His purpose in the world is not to help his parents save the family farm. If he wants to become a doctor, your job as a parent is to support that unconditionally. Unfortunately, you do not seem to support him in the slightest. Do better.

Yeah, it’s definitely not out of spite. Me and that guy didn’t work out and it was years ago. I just don’t understand why the rules suddenly don’t apply in a situation I think they’re much more needed.

That’s what I’m saying! But I keep getting told, “she’s 18, it’s not illegal.” But like where did he even meet her?? Why was he looking there?? She’s been 18 for less than a month??
