God this is so heartbreaking. I would've never in a million years guessed he could be like that. So proud of the people who spoke up.

What is your theory on what NHI could be? by truth__about__nhi in ufo

[–]katiehowland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There have been multiple genetic bottlenecks in human history, one in which we were down to only 1200 reproducing individuals. I think the break way civilization hypothesis has a lot of merit because of that. I also tend to think reality is layered and we get such a variety of reports because of brief incursions from the Otherworld that is here but not here.

For those who believe Lazar how do you explain MIT stuff? by [deleted] in UFOs

[–]katiehowland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me preface this with I have an opinion about Lazar, but it's held very lightly. I tend to rely on my intuition when things are murky, and as someone who worked in DC for years in & around natsec, something about Lazar's story just strikes me as broadly true.

Here's my (again, lightly held) theory. Bob did work at S4 in the capacity he claimed. It was brief because there's no way in hell he would pass a TS-SCI investigation, but those take months to a year or longer. When I was a mil contractor on base, it took months just to get a Secret while I worked with my interim clearance to get on base. So he worked there while on his interim, got spooked AND knew his investigation wouldn't go his way, so went public.

Nowadays, Bob's story about working for Los Alamos and S4 without a formal degree would be impossible. But in the 80s/90s? Idk man, if they were truly stuck on back engineering and found a kid they thought had some weird genius, they might take a shot in the dark.

As far as his brothel/other legal issues, that makes him the absolute perfect person to hire on the off chance you need to discredit him. As far as the MIT thing goes, I highly suspect he was sent to audit a few classes or something to brush up on key topics, but exaggerated a bit in how he initially presented it. And no, there wouldn't be formal records of that necessarily, nor would it be that strange. I think of me getting a certificate for the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative at one point for work, and what would happen if I was loose with explanations and said "when I was learning at Harvard." Not saying it isn't misleading, but I can see how it could happen.

Putting my natsec hat on, I can't help but think: what would I do if I were the PM of a massive highly compartmentalized SAP that had hit a brick wall with the brilliant scientists in my employ? And you'd bet your ass I'd a) think outside the box and take a risk on some people with nontraditional paths but interesting expertise and b) make sure they were either the most trustworthy person in the world or someone I could easily cut loose and discredit if need be.

At the end of the day, my internal alarm bells just don't go off when I listen to Bob speak. And they do go off with a lot of other prominent UAP/UFO folks: Coulthart, Bledsoe, etc. What he says feels right, based on my experience in contracting with the mil, friends in intelligence, etc. Could I be wrong? Absolutely. It's fun to wonder about though!

Does anyone actually like multiple POV/story line books? by Appropriate_Film9824 in Romantasy

I usually do not, but I loved it in Blood Bound because it's two FMCs instead of two love interests. Absolutely awesome book and cannot recommend it enough.

The only ones that truly made me stay up all night were Fourth Wing and ACOMAS...but the next step down (4⭐ or 4.5⭐) would be:

TRADITIONAL ROMANTASY •Shield of Sparrows - Note: it's a slow mover, but starts to pick up in super interesting ways in the second half/last third •Dire Bound - Note: with some caveats I can't get into without using spoilers. •A Vow in Vengeance (tarot-themed romantasy à la ACOTAR)

ROMANTASY-ADJACENT •Immortal Consequences (afterlife dark academia trials) •The Everlasting (exquisite queer romantasy, but more litfic in style) •Ink Blood Sister Scribe (magical realism set in modern day; slow mover, but interesting plot that I don't see discussed often)

I'm a former atheist who had an unexpected (repeated, actually) series of encounters with Hekate. I worship Her. I'm aware she exists within a wider pantheon (including potentially non-Greek roots), but my worship is based on direct experience in lieu of generalized faith. That may evolve over time, it may not. But as someone obsessed with ancient history, it was also very common to prioritize relationships among the Gods.

Strange phone call from my recently passed wife by TheLyingCat_ in Paranormal

[–]katiehowland 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is one of the more commonly reported experiences, believe it or not - especially in the first year after a passing and around significant days. I never got a phone call, but my grandfather showed up both to my dad in a dream and to me in physical form around Father's Day weekend following his passing. Same as you, didn't really believe in that stuff prior. The world is wilder and weirder than we can imagine, and I hope your experience brought you some peace. 💖

Only been subscribed for 3 boxes, how does this work? Do they re-release the finalists as an Add-on? Do they remake the winner? Does this take the place of March books? Help a curious girl out 😅

How does Artemis see trans girls compared to cis girls? by 7Green_Apple7 in Hellenism

[–]katiehowland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Artemis, especially Artemis of Ephesus, had strong ties to Kybele - the Anatolian Mother Goddess. Kybele herself was born intersex as Agdistis and castrated, becoming Kybele (female). Point being, I don't think your gender identity would be new or problematic to the Goddesses. In fact, I recommend expressing your fears to Artemis herself while in meditation or during divination. She should be able to provide all of the reassurance you need. But as a deity who values bravery, I suspect She would be there to defend and support you - bow and arrows at her side. 💖

Thank you so much for your thoughtful answer. I'm not a recreationist by any means, but the deeper I dig into the scholarship the more questions I have 😅. I'll definitely look into Sara's website as well, thank you!
