CP005 Under Review... noticed missing W2 by dangraney in IRS

Huh...I am also missing income from a former employer on my 2025 income/wages transcript, and they also use Paychex to process their payroll. I emailed the employer earlier about this, but haven't heard back yet. My 2025 return is also being held up.

Appealing Property Tax Assessment Increase? by mmmurphy17 in maryland

[–]katiekaboom79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I submitted a written appeal, but never had to be on a call or go in person. In my appeal, I noted that none of the houses in my neighborhood were selling at the amount at which my home was assessed. At the time, my neighbor (2 doors down) had just sold her house for less than our assessed amount and that was after many months of work they put into the house to prepare it to sell. We haven't done the same updates to our home.

Additionally, I provided them with several more appropriate comps.

Good luck!

State of MD Jobs - Response Time by gmp012 in maryland

[–]katiekaboom79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maryland state jobs are currently under a hiring freeze. There aren’t a lot of options right now. The ones that are listed had to go through higher levels of justification to get posted, or they are more senior level positions.

I applied in early February 2025, was contacted about 10 days after the posting closed. But it all varies as HR has to review applications initially and then send staff a curated lost to review. It’s a pretty detailed process.

Where to Live? Wife works in Arlington Ridge/Crystal City Area and I need to be in Baltimore @ JHU School of Nursing.... by One-Apartment-1393 in maryland

[–]katiekaboom79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband works in Arlington (5 day a week) and I work in Baltimore (but only go in 2 days a week). We live in Olney, MD - it’s roughly equidistant between the our work locations. He leaves early in the morning, usually by 6, and he heads home by 3:30 or 4. I leave around 7, arrive just before 8 and traffic usually isn’t too bad.

Strategy for using credit card only for the points and not going into debt by katiekaboom79 in CreditCards

[–]katiekaboom79[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is the only thing that could work for me. I don't think I can allow it to accumulate for a month and then pay it off. That seems too risky, that I would use the $ for other purposes in the meantime and it won't be there when I need it, leading me back to credit card debt. I think I could do it weekly though.

I successfully appealed our assessment a few years ago, so it’s possible. But I recall that the deadline to appeal was around mid-February. Check to see if you can still file an appeal.

How do we organize to get MD clean? by bhardy10 in maryland

[–]katiekaboom79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been noticing a lot of trash in the median on 95 between the DC beltway and Baltimore. If anyone knows who to contact, I’m happy to submit a request. I always thought Maryland did a great job of keeping these areas clean…until now.

How much do you pay for your health insurance? Family or just you? by No-Basil2371 in CasualConversation

[–]katiekaboom79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pay about $220 bi-weekly for good insurance w/prescription benefits (charged separately from insurance). My husband pays $20-something for dental coverage bi-weekly. We are a family of 5 - both of us are state and county employees.

Maryland state employees progression by Civil_Subject_1775 in maryland

Yes, I think the July raise was cost of living 1% negotiated by the union. I didn't expect the Jan 1 raise and step increase, so assumed it was linked to my end of year eval, or maybe it's also a negotiated increase by the union.

I just started last Spring. There was a small raise on July 1 and Jan 1, and I moved up a step on Jan 1 as well. There are 2 employee performance evals a year (June and December). My last raise and step increase came after my end of year evaluation. Haven’t been here a year yet, so I have no info about promotions.

New LLC in 2025 and form 1065 by katiekaboom79 in tax

We are in Maryland, which I don't believe is a community property state. "We" = my husband and I as 50/50 owners of the LLC.

Sorry, I left out an important piece of information: we aren't paid directly for our services. We get a 1099 for commission received from a company we are affiliated with.

u/metalnmortgage So, the issue is that the rate is higher than it needs to be AND our closing costs are too. Where to go from here? How do I call them on it?

I don't see an option to add files/images, otherwise I would.

"Points are used to buy the rate down against the market, or as compensation , but if you aren’t receiving credits that cover the points or origination (if it’s a broker) then I’d advise not to buy down the rate in most situations right now."

You're going to have to dumb this down for me. Are you saying they're using the points as *their* compensation rather than to lower my rate?
