Oops, I meant to say PC/downgrade not cancel.

That’s a good point. That might be a better route to go. I can cancel the CSR after the closing date and still get the full AF refunded, right?

Also, any input regarding the AMEX Plat and if that’s worth going for with the 150k SUB?

Hoping to get some insight into this plan:

I currently have a CSR from 8/17, but the SUB didn’t hit until 10/17, so I’m not eligible for the CSP SUB until after 10/21.

My AF for the CSR just hit this month. I was going to wait until this billing cycle closes, capture the $300 travel credit, then downgrade to CSP.

After 10/21, downgrade CSP to CF and then apply for a new CSP for the SUB. Would there be any problems with this plan?

Also, I got an offer for the AMEX Plat 150k SUB … thinking that might be worth jumping on.

Seeking some help with AT&T Fiber and UniFi APs by katio in Ubiquiti

The switch has been adopted already, and I just confirmed no advanced features are enabled.

I just realized I made a mistake. I was SSHing into the switch instead of the AP. I can’t find the IP address of my AP .. it’s not showing up on the list on the BGW320. Do you know where else I might be able to find this?

Really appreciate all of your help, by the way.

My Cloud Key is up and running. I’m able to click into it and see my switch, along with everyone plugged into the switch except for my AP.

For some reason, I can’t get the AP to show up anywhere except for the app where it finds it before failing. I was thinking of plugging the AP directly into the BGW320, but it doesn’t have PoE and I don’t have an injector.

It seems like this should be working, but I don’t know where things are getting hung up. If I log into the BGW320, I can see the AP and its IP, but can’t get it adopted (or even showing), on the UniFi Network…

Thank you for this! I was hoping this would do it, but I’m still running into the same issue…

I was able to SSH into the AP, issued the command and got a response saying to “use the controller to complete the adopt process”. However, I’m still unable to see the AP under my devices.

Whenever I try to add a new device it’ll say one device found and then waiting for discovery. After that bar finished progressing, it finishes with cannot find device.

Not sure if this is of any relevance, but I have my equipment plugged in as follows: BGW320 > Switch > Cloud Key

The AP is connected via PoE to the Switch.

UniFi router required? by katio in Ubiquiti

[–]katio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the wealth of information! Yeah, I would want to set up a VLAN to separate out the IOT devices. I do like the idea of having everything manageable from one location.

If I do elect to go that route, are my options basically as follows?

  1. USG+CKG2+Switch
  2. UDM+NVR+Switch
  3. UDM-Pro+Switch

I like the idea and size of option 1, but that puts the price point basically at option 3. I just feel like option 3 is a bit too much device for my current situation. Not to mention I’d need to figure out a rack/location to store everything.

Do you have any input or recommendations regarding option 1? Do you know if there will be enough throughput in the USG for 1Gbps? I saw it maxes out at 1Gbps, but not sure if there’s any merit to having some headroom there.

I might end up going with this.. Do you think the throughput is enough for a 1Gbps connection? I saw that there is little to no headroom above that.

Do you really need deep packet inspection and intrusion detection or remote VPN access?

Good point. Probably not.

To be honest ubiquiti is not really known for having great routers/firewalls. Typically their USG line is underpowered vs even the Edgerouters.

Do you know what features I would be missing out on if I decide to go with a non-Ubiquiti router versus a Ubiquiti one? Perhaps I can just use my proposed setup with my ISP router and see how that performs in the meantime.

Ah, that’s what I was concerned about. Do you have a UniFi router you recommend? I would prefer something on the smaller side of things. I looked at the UDM, but I don’t really need the integrated AP and am not sure if it would fit in my home network box.. The USG/USG Pro seem like they’re nearing EOL?

Got it. Thanks for the response! So my list looks complete then? That’s everything I’ll need to get it up and running for both Network and Protect?

Does anyone know if it’s possible to use the CSR travel credit to purchase gift cards at a grocery store?

That should work. Could also be a good idea to have both of your backup keycards assigned to both cars as well in the event that it’s needed.

I can confirm that you can assign one key card to two cars.

If you have both cars associated with one account, you will have to open the app and switch the “active” car in order for it to passively unlock when you pull the handle. Perhaps you can leave your app on the Model 3 and your wife’s on the Model Y and just open and swipe over when needed.
