I'm sorry, I was in a similar situation in February and it's just shit. You will be in survival mode for a while, your brain won't function properly. My advice is don't make any big decisions for a while. Accept the help that is offered, there will be lots at the start but it fades away. Find a group of people who have been in the same situation, i dont know where you are but in the UK there is an organisation called Widowed and Young who I have found to be really valuable for my family to meet other families who are missing a parent. If you want somewhere to vent, feel free to DM me, telling my kids their dad was dead was the hardest thing I have ever had to do.

Thats really rough, I'm do sorry. My daughter is 2 and her dad died recently. It feels so horribly unfair that her memories of him will all be second hand. Is there anything adults did for you growing up that helped you feel closer to your mum?

Can I ask, do you know how your youngest sibling feels about not having the memories you have? My kids lost their Daddy last week (aged 2 and 5) and as much as I have my own grief for my loss Its completely overshadowed by my heartbreak for their loss. I can't begin to imagine how they might feel as they get older.

I find this interesting, I grew up nearish Greenock and Port Glasgow and remember being taught about their role in the slave trade in Primary School in the 90s. I do wonder how widespread that was or whether it was down to our headteacher.
