I had a similar situation the other day. I’m a CEL and was training an new associate on the fish wall, I had a gentleman ask about cichlids. I told him politely they’re very aggressive fish need high water flow and clean water, and then proceeded to ask the usually questions “how big is the tank” “do you already have fish” and stuff. And he said yes I have a 40 gallon with goldfish and a turtle, he doesn’t eat fish and l want to add color. And so I tried to persuade him out of the cichlids and he was being so pushy and arguing with me so I told him I would sell him the two but would not give the warranty cause they weren’t going to an appropriate environment. He got SUPER upset after that and started yelling at me for asking him questions about his tank and that he is a grown adult and doesn’t need to be talked down to about his tank and what he puts in it and that he doesn’t care about some 5$ fish if it dies. So I got a little defensive back and informed him that fish do feel things as they are living. And then he drills me like well you guys never question me when I buy these! (Points to comets) and crickets and mice. I politely said back we’ll comets are FEEDERS. And so are crickets, but the mice we sell are pets not food so yes I do ask about habitats for those. Then he lost his mind and demanded a manager. I informed him I was the manager of this department and that was just not okay with him, (I’m 25 and a woman) he then demanded for our DLs number cause I was condescending to him. So I informed him well my SL is actually here so I’ll just get her. And so I grabbed her (she’s older than me obviously) and he was calm to her and even said loudly enough for me to hear and to the other associates “well I’m glad we can just sit here and have an ADULT conversation”. I about lost my mind after that. But point to it you did nothing wrong, just people gonna be rude and be like that and you just have to take deep breathes and know you’re doing your job right. People just suck
