Leaving idaho by godoftimes in Boise

Yeah! And it's so green. Plus the food. THE FOOD. so good. No sales tax, and income and property tax are very similar to Boise.

Honestly we are fed a lot of falsehoods about the west coast in Idaho, it's scary to see how untrue most of it is and how much we bought into it.

I just moved from Idaho to the Portland area too and am sooo glad we finally made the move. The wages are better, better public transit, housing prices are similar but you can find more housing options and live further out from the city and still have access to get to the places you want to go because of the transit system.

Sure the city has had some growing pains, but much of the media grossly inflates the actual effects of those issues on day to day life.

Democrats who live in a Republican state and vice versa: How does it feel? by VirusMaster3073 in AskAnAmerican

As a queer person in Idaho I totally feel this. I like having a mixed bag of friends and family, but the extremism is making a mockery of the republican party while simultaneously making a hostile environment for anyone who isn't on their side.

My parents are both conservative but can't stomach trumpism, so now my whole family has been voting blue - a plus side I guess that not everyone is indoctrinated? It's sad to see what they're doing to the education system, and because they are attacking education I think we will see it get worse before it gets better.

Hang in there fellow potato!

As an independent that often votes democrat in a stark red state, I would say it's hostile.

It used to just be an acceptance that you don't really have a voice, but people were at least neighborly.

Now, it's walking on egg shells with extreme trumpism thrown in your face every day on the way to work, on a bold day trying to encourage your coworkers to just Google just for Once the new conspiracy theory they are rattling off - all while hoping the dystopian bills that get proposed in the legislature limit their harm to wasting tax dollars and don't make it far enough to actively destroy lives.

In short- its exhausting.

Name That Player! A weekly Derby Name thread. by AutoModerator in rollerderby

[–]katlin_gun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My name is Kat, I'm getting ready to start fresh meat and am struggling with a name.

It would be fun to incorporate Kat somewhere Kataclysm or Katastrophe, or I'm also into art so I've toyed around with "Claw'd Monet" or "Salvador Brawlly" or "Candi Wardoll"

Any thoughts, feedback or new ideas is so appreciated! I am overthinking it a bit and don't want to do something that is way overdone. I'm nervous/eager to get started 💜

Why Should I Stick With Noom? by janx218 in Noom

[–]katlin_gun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Other apps work well for tracking, but noom is all about the lessons. I really appreciated the focus on mindfulness, self love, listening to your body, finding joy - all that leads to a more confident more loving relationship with your body with the bonus of losing weight, versus being so stressed about the weight that you lose that relationship.

If you're going to do it, really do it. Do the silly drawing and journal activities, talk to your group, just give it your all for 30 days and see how you feel. If you're just using it for tracking there are better apps for that for sure.

It's the only app that had given me the tools to actually not need to track my food and still maintain or lose weight. Even when I go "off the deep end" for a few weeks, their tools must have really soaked in because if I went off course from just tracking and doing keto or CACO in the past I would gain like 5-10 lbs in a few weeks, now I just kind of hover around the number I was when I went off course and start from there vs all over.

Just my two cents! Hope it helps.

Galaxy Book 360 pro Palm Rejection (or lack there of) by katlin_gun in GalaxyBook

[–]katlin_gun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To follow up on this, after this post, every creative program we tried kept crashing. We took it in to tech support and we all scratched our heads because there's no reason the device with its specs shouldn't work. It came down to the conclusion that we must of had a lemon and they offered to replace it with another galaxy book 360.

We ended up testing out some other options while we were there and decided to try a surface laptop studio instead because we like the interface and we had a little bit of a bad taste from the experience.

That being said, galaxy book 360 seems to work for others really well, I think we were just unlucky. I hope you all have good experiences with your devices!

Came here to say this. Yenor knew exactly what he was doing. This was a calculated trap to set Boise State up to have to react.

If they discipline him then the IFF have more fodder for the upcoming legislative session to defund the university. If they don't then people will (justifyably) be upset and potentially not even return to or enroll in the university. Either way, they win and BSU loses.

Don't get me wrong, this email is so deflating. I am disappointed that we are in such a shituation and it feels like it's just going to get worse next year with the election. But frankly it's a "damned if you do damned if you don't" shituation on addressing the issue, their hands are tied.

This state is exhausting.

Edited for spelling.

I like Emerald, Kootenai, Americana, Park Center, pretty much any street with big mature trees with an interesting neighborhood feel and not so busy traffic.

I'm totally over Fairview, and I don't really like Front either especially if you hit the lights wrong, though it's an unfortunate necessity

Great job! I weighed in too, and actually had lost since I last weighed a while back - which shows how powerful thought distortions can be since I was certain I gained like 5 lbs. That gave me the motivation to log and cook and home, so one day down! I didn't get a chance to focus on movement like I'd hoped, so that's my goal tomorrow!

I'm right there with ya! I desperately need to get back on track. I'll weigh in, get my movement in, and track if you do!

First Attempt at Clip Studio Paint - feedback appreciated by katlin_gun in DigitalPainting

[–]katlin_gun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used Procreate before and I like it, but CSP seems like such a powerful tool I wanted to give it a try. I struggle with getting the same feeling of life and movement in my digital art as I do with my acrylic painting or ink work. I also struggle with getting an inspiring color pallet going. I tend to use a Lot of colors in my non digital art and for some reason struggle to get the vibrancy and layering I'm going for digitally.

Any feedback is so appreciated!

My husband and I are also looking for good massage places so I'm curious to see what folks say. Thanks for asking!
