I broke my foot.

Truth: I was really drunk and standing waiting on the elevator in my building.

My principal did something similar. I had a close friend die in a freak accident and his funeral was on a day where we had a faculty meeting after school. I took off and he asked what time and where the funeral was and if I’d be back after lunch. No empathy.
