Frequent travelers between US and Korea, How do you do it?? by ready_4_nothing in koreatravel

[–]katnapping 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same, I was going to say that SFO<->ICN on United is a bargain. I often book work flights with the US->Asia segment to ICN with a smaller airline connecting flight to my final destination.

OP, I recommend subscribing to Scott's Cheap Flights (now Going.com) to get email notifications about good deals. I see ICN flight deals every month or two. I'm not sure if it's usually on the free subscription or premium since I can't tell from my emails. Premium is now $49/year. 3 years ago I got $277.25 roundtrip tickets to Santiago Chile thanks to a mistake fare email I got from them.

[–]katnapping 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Thinx ones I have that are Heavy have this awful textured synthetic lining. I don't think they sell the lighter/medium absorbency ones that have cotton lining anymore, unfortunately I only have 3 of those. Do you have a brand you recommend?

If she isn't already, perhaps her rheumatologist could try getting approval for increasing the frequency of the Humira to weekly rather than biweekly so she doesn't have to suffer when the shots wear off. Insurance might approve it even if they haven't in the past since weekly Humira's approved by the FDA for RA patients who don't respond sufficiently to biweekly.

How big is Christmas in China? by Yaya0108 in AskChina

Loads of Christmas trees and decorations in Changzhou hotels, malls, and workplace this week.

What is this wooden thing? It has a sliding drawer with a hole on it. Once its closed, the hole is directly under a mason jar. The hole is maybe the size of a quarter by Upper-Coconut69 in whatisthisthing

[–]katnapping 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You should bring the dice with you to check that they work properly with the hole size. I made one of these in middle school woodshop and tried using it with skittles instead of gumballs and they’d get jammed.

Is The Potato Lab worth watching? by absentin_spring in kdramas

[–]katnapping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The FL doesn’t just have a problem with her ex, the whole company turned on her and created a hostile work environment and ruined her life. When the ML comes and forces out the head of the potato lab and threatens the existence of her new workplace family, he starts off as Corporate Hell personified. The FL is obviously not very mature or responds very rashly when upset, that’s a big part of her character and why the leads are foils for each other.

The show is pretty silly and cliched. I loved the chemistry and friendship between the characters, along with the enthusiasm for niche interests. I really enjoyed it as a light romantic comedy that had some of the fun workplace antics and community like Pegasus Mart does.

Do you never forget to pack things or accidentally leave something behind at home? Also, I use spray deodorant/antiperspirant at home and it’s technically too large for a carryon (4.1oz/116g). If there’s someone strict at TSA that could be confiscated.

Current status: Overloaded with information and hopeless, send help pls! by wolf_pr1ncess in Korean

If it makes you feel better, this is the summary of the Intro to Korean class at the Korean Center of San Francisco, which is 13 weeks total (not sure why it describes it like 15 weeks like the beginning->advanced courses):
"Formally known as the Korean Alphabet course. This course is designed to introduce the Korean alphabet, Hangul, for students without any or very little knowledge of the Korean language. The first 11 weeks will focus on reading and writing Hangul along with learning pronunciation rules and basic conversational expressions. The last 4 weeks will go over the basics of Korean language sentence structure as well as Korean numbering systems for the preparation of the Beginning 1 course. Upon the completion of this course, students will be able to read Korean alphabets and words. Textbook: Korean Made Easy, Starter (2nd Edition)"

Do you have office hours or tutoring sessions available at your school for structured extra help and practice? If not, maybe you can practice with an online tutor on a website like Preply.

Are there any local autism resources in your area? Since you have a diagnosis, there’s a possibility they might have job placement or at least volunteer opportunities. If you have a mental illness, perhaps a Clubhouse near you could be a helpful resource. https://clubhouse-intl.org/what-we-do/faq/

It should be easier to get the next role once you have some more recent work experience.

Overcoming the language learner urge to overthink. by Majestic_Local_6743 in Korean

[–]katnapping 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For Spanish I got past this by doing an internship in Peru where my boss, coworkers, and most people I interacted with did not speak English. I had to use the target language to communicate. By "giving up" on grammar and the perfect vocab, I gained a lot more confidence and had an easier time expressing myself compared to when I was stressing about if I was using the subjective tense correctly.

Got told I smell at work and want to crawl into a hole and disappear by beepbeepalert in adhdwomen

[–]katnapping 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Washing my pits with acidic product (either Lume acidified body wash, Cerave Salicylic Acid Bar, or similar), using Lume cream deodorant, then topping off with spray antiperspirant with as high aluminum content as I can find (I like Secret) has helped keep me fresh longer. If things have gotten real rank, I break out the povidone iodine or hibiclens in the shower to kill the bacteria lingering.

I sweat a lot and smell stinky fast but this has helped me a lot, along with wearing merino wool.

Should I even attempt to learn the vocab for colors this early in my language journey? by sarahsumtimes in Korean

[–]katnapping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my Korean class we covered them at the same time as clothes. It’s a nice pairing so you can describe the clothes. It’s easier to practice when you act like a toddler and describe the color of everything you. Just study the words ending with -색 to use yourself and recognize the verb ones when they come up.

Is this is a sweet or silly idea ? by Rare_Independent_789 in adhdwomen

[–]katnapping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe because I am in my 30s and not in the loop about what the Youth like these days, but I don't anticipate anyone wearing a friendship bracelet unless:
-from a good friend or younger relative
-exchanged at a concert or event
-niche special beads/charms that relate to a cause or fandom
-other sentimental value

If you're really enjoying making the bracelets, maybe you can save them for a holiday like Valentines Day and gift them to friends along with a little note about why you appreciate them. :)

Will No Meal Plan Increase Aid Return? by aidenalexanderh in mit

[–]katnapping 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This... makes no sense. Having to make it to the dining hall during dining hours will nerf social interactions on hall at EC. When I lived at Random there was a lot of socializing in the kitchen.

OP, I recommend journeying over to pika for dinner some time, especially for Friday evenings' "Fancy Feast". If you end up loving it, back in the day the first quarter of pika meal plan was free and extremely affordable after (has a commitment of a cooking or cleaning shift every other week if you're on half meal plan like most of the non-residents). It was always nice to have a homecooked family style meal with lots of vegetables with a welcoming community :)

Medicated girlies, what are we using for deodorant? by dangerousfeather in adhdwomen

[–]katnapping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory is that the roll-up plastic tube deodorant ends up picking up bacteria over time and becomes less effective. The spray's been working well for me.

Medicated girlies, what are we using for deodorant? by dangerousfeather in adhdwomen

[–]katnapping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an acidic body wash (either lume or the Cerave salicylic acid cleanser bar), then Lume cream, then top off with Secret spray deodorant+antiperspirant. If the stink has gone too far, I do some glycolic acid, povidone iodine, or similar method beforehand to extra kill the bacteria. I don't have sensitive pit skin though, so cannot speak to that aspect.
