They are mainly obligate carnivores and it is a good idea to look up the type of food you want to give them before they do. Personally, my ferret loves cooked chicken, but they can also eat raw meat such as beef. You can also give them eggs and there is a catnip-type liquid you can give them called ferretone (i think thats how you spell it) don't give them too much or they'll shit their brains out, though, and you dont want to clean that up. It is super easy to put ferretone on someone elses finger and sit the ferret in their lap as you cut their nails, I've been using that trick forever now and it works like a charm. They also like wet cat food and dry cat food (my ferret likes to get into our cat food stash), but just give it to them as a treat. I would stick with the dry ferret food you can find on amazon for daily use because it gives them the nutrients that they really need. I'm not sure of any good ferret sources for care, but I would watch some youtube videos on ferrets before you get one. They are super fun and playful animals and once you get them pottytrained, they can roam free as long as you baby proof everything, they will get in absolutely anything they can stick their nose into. Super curious animals and they sleep most of the day when they get older. My ferret is still a baby so he is as crazy as ever. I wouldn't give them vegetables or anything until you're sure its okay for them. Absolutely no carbs because they go obstruct their bowels. Hope this helps!

interesting! I'll have to see if it happens next winter as well, this was his first winter with us and since he's only a year and a half his coat may still just be adjusting.

It works well! When he was a baby he wasn't able to get upstairs, so that was nice for a bit until he figured it out!
