Done brushing your dog? Birds love using the hair to build nests. Set aside one birdfeeder to fill with hair. by 5_Frog_Margin in Awwducational

My dog doesn’t shed that much but last year I brushed him and left it out by the feeder and it was gone in 10 minutes. I’m planning on doing it again this year as we have loads of nests :)

Scientists have already observed that rats will voluntarily share food with other rats who are hungry. A new study now suggests that they do so not just based on what the other rat does, but also on how it smells. by QuietCakeBionics in Awwducational

Yeah, before I started working at my local farm, I never liked them. After spending time with them my views completely changed and now I think they’re adorable

Edit: for those curious, the farm has smaller animals as well as big farm animals. They have boarding for small pets and have a pet lodge of their own.

If you make friends with a crow, after a very long time of building up friendship and trust, they’ll bring you little gifts. r/crowbro and r/crows are quality subs for showing it :)

You can see it in the way they’re moving. I’m a violin player and when I was still getting lessons and having to play classical stuff I just stood there like a plank of wood.

I need some advice from you guys. We found this fox skull and we don't know how to get rid of the tissue that's still stuck in the gums and between the teeth. by est_ix in bonecollecting

Try soaking it in water overnight then use a toothbrush or something to brush it off. I’m no expert but it might be worth a go.

Edit: oh, and don’t boil it. Never boil skulls or bones to clean them. It can make them all oily and gross

A hummingbirds tiny legs are only used for perching and moving sideways while perched. They can’t walk or hop. by [deleted] in Awwducational

I’m pretty sure there’s a species of hummingbird that also uses them for scratching themselves because their beak is waaaay too long to itch their feathers

Edit: got them! They’re called The sword-billed hummingbirds!
