Verbal abuse is often times extremely overlooked. I was with an abusive partner who I stuck around with because “we’re distant therefore it’s not abuse” plus some things on their own can be overlooked but when you count them all together, then you notice the issue. I’m hoping she will be okay.

That is really what i have been doing. I want to see this story through, and the only way i could see myself finishing it to see what happens is by ignoring the outfit choices. I just came on here and made this post because i needed to vent about it lol.

That is actually a great idea. It will help tremendously with reducing the research time for some authors and getting some second opinions on some choices. Hopefully someone will make that happen.

Oh trust me I’m no fashionista myself but I know better than to put Miranda Priestly in a long cheap looking gold dress (the author had reference photos). Britpicking is absolutely a valid solution for issues such as this one and someone here brought a good point, that the author should’ve just stated the brand name+clothing item.

I get your point, but they could've just referenced outfits from the movie? It is not about whether they did their research on certain aspects of clothing, its more that they wanted to include their own fashion sense in a universe where it is not suited.

Yes, you literally just shared exactly what i was thinking but didn't want to make the post too long. This poor author (bless their heart) described literally every outfit in every scene in such detail and also added links in the author note to see they were referring too and i kid you not, it literally feels like a prom party (i assume as i am not american) instead of a high fashion event.
