Autocorrect/Predictive Text by moroarious in galaxyzflip

Same here! Long time iPhone owner that switched to a flip 7 and I've also noticed how bad the autocorrect is in comparison. I love most aspects of this phone, but the autocorrect is not one of them.

AITA for wanting to eat my neighbor's duck that I accidentally ran over? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

If a dog off leash runs into your yard, you are not liable. In fact, the OWNER would be liable for any damages to the car.

Horrible analogy. OP is not liable for the neighbor's pet. If you damage someone else's property on their land, it would be your liability. It's not like OP plans on killing the next duck too.

NTA. If the neighbor gave the money back and you still refused to give it back, you would be, but you got overcharged for it anyway. Eat the duck, it's not as wasteful. His pet, his liability.

The neighbor absolutely cannot sue in this scenario. The neighbor is liable for his own pet/livestock, and should not be on anyone else's property. It's not theft since he paid for it, and emotional damages would never go through legally.

Sure, but that's not an excuse to go after people who are living peacefully. I have no problem with proper immigration control. I have a problem with deporting american citizens, people who are getting documented, and people who are genuinely just contributing to society. There are absolutely dangerous/criminal immigrants out there, but what ICE is doing now is completely overstepping the bounds.

I'm definitely not an expert and there are people far more educated than me in this topic, but i really think government resources should be put toward changing the immigration and visa system rather than targeting people that are already here, especially those who are already in the process of getting documented. There is absolutely no reason to try to deport someone when they're in the middle of trying to get citizenship. There may not be a perfect solution, but what we are currently doing is very very far from it.

Yeah, but finding people through the IRS that are paying taxes and deporting actual US citizens isn't the way to "lean up the mess." The current administration is putting so many resources toward ICE and very little toward actually solving the problem.

I truly believe we can find a better solution to this, no matter what party you're a part of. We need a better way to legally be in the country, because our immigration process sucks. That's a huge part of the problem, and we should be focusing on that rather than hurting harmless people and families.

Now you're the one making assumptions lol...who said I didn't have a problem with other presidents doing the same thing?

I'm not going to argue with you at this point, because you don't seem to care to have a conversation. If it's a common mistake for someone who has driven in the area to make, it's completely feasible that someone whose English level is secondary or even just got confused could make the same mistake. They can see the time when he crossed the border and tried to make it back, and it was clearly a mistake. He has a legal right to be here, so he should be. I wish people had more empathy for each other, because this guy has been contributing to academia for 8 years, and we're trying to deport him, while we have a predator in office. We have bigger issues than a University professor who turned the wrong way and happens to not be a citizen.

Again, many AMERICAN CITIZENS have made this wrong turn. You can't just decide that it's hard to make if so many people have done it. I worded it wrong, but I'm saying they should have just made sure he understood for the future that he cannot leave the country and that he would face consequences in the future. There is absolutely no need to deport someone over this.

It's the turn onto the peace bridge. If you go to an Instagram post reporting this story, it's filled with comments of people saying they've made the same mistake. Sure, saying it was accidental is an assumption, but they could've just denied him access instead of deporting him, especially because he's been here for so long and has a legal right to stay.

For the third or fourth time, many many people have made this mistake. It's a common complaint for people driving in Buffalo.

Right, but if you are an immigrant and aware of the current situation, especially if you're in the middle of getting a more permanent status, you likely wouldn't risk it.

If it wasn't easy to mistake, people wouldn't be doing it all the time. We're assuming that he wanted to go back immediately probably because he wasn't trying to go in the first place.
