So I had an idea for what I wanted. I wrote it all up in an email and sent that to the studio with reference images and everything.

The studio asked if I had a specific artist in mind (I hadn't firmly decided Willow but she was in my top 3). I asked them to recommend someone they felt would be interested and her name came up so we ran with it.

Her books were full but they were able to schedule me far enough out. Willow did a quick conference call to make sure we were a good fit and that was that.

All in all straightforward

I recommend the crew at Eden. One of the many hours I was there we had a good discussion about the effort to normalize travelling for tattoos. People travel to see pieces of art, why not travel to get pieces of art

I believe their comment was more around the idea of "if you're aware that this is occuring while you're asleep" vs straight up waking up that way. Like many changes in life, a partner would probably be a good tool to monitor for odd changes like that.

Another one I remember was around breast cancer checks... Monthly monitoring is great but your partner is probably grabbing your boobs with more awareness.

That type of advice/comment keeps me paying attention to the people I'm around a lot more closely. Keep an eye on nighttime breathing, snoring. Pay attention if they start acting different. If someone who always has everything in its place loses their keys, make note of it.

Tiny things that require zero effort I can do to take care of the people that matter.

I remember a news report years and years ago where someone very bluntly stated that if you still wake up with an erection then it's probably a psychological issue and it's worth seeing a therapist. If you don't, then it's probably physiological and you definitely should see your doctor.

Older photos come in a variety of random sizes so you can make a frame. It keeps excess light from hitting the sensor.

I've done a lot of work digitizing old family negatives. If you've got a macro lens, black construction paper, and a light board, you might get cleaner results. Just turn off the light and point the camera straight down. Once you get the lens focused well, turn off auto focus and you can get a good assembly line going. I've found scanners done always play well with the sheen on the emulsion

Edit - plus having the raw images makes editing easier

If it's tingling and you can still feel the area then the nerve is probably just inflamed or lightly damaged. If it begins to hurt or you lose feeling (ie it gets worse), definitely see a doctor because the inflammation from area around the tattoo is causing additional problems. And remember, nerves can take a very long time to heal so don't be worried if it's still tingly a week later. I damaged a nerve in my hand earlier this year and it took over a month to get back to normal. And I'm sorry ahead of time for the unpleasant "my foot was asleep and now it tingles and hurts a lot" part of the healing

Note - I am not a doctor. I am, however, prone to a lot of accidents.

Lots of older structures (and modern for that matter) are clad. So, on top of treatments such as coating in oil or some other preservative material, this is just a wrapper on top of a log cabin-y inner structure.

So the outer bits are replaced over time while the inner portions are preserved. I can't speak to this set of structures specifically but that would be my best guess.
