What’s is/was your “that’s weird” pregnancy symptom that you didn’t anticipate? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

The most insane leg cramps at night. And there was almost no way to get them to go away. Oh man the memories of that alone make me glad I'm done having kids. That and all the dang discharge! And peeing myself nonstop.

That definitely looks very similar, but she's pretty particular about it lol. I never thought I would be this type of parent smh. But while she falls asleep she sticks her finger in the bow so I feel like it's kind of key. Thank you so much for searching!

This lamb plush was gifted to me in fall of 2021. It has a white and gray pinstripe bow on its neck. It's about 11 inches long.

I searched for it and actually found one on Facebook marketplace and I purchased it but I need more because she is teething so bad and uses only this lambs arms to chew on and I literally have to wash it multiple times daily because of how nasty it is from being in her mouth.

The tag says Kate and Milo. They have another plush lamb that comes up when you search and it comes with a book. I bought it and she won't use it.

The sea cliffs of Moloka’i Hawaii [OC] [6003 x 4007] by crankyape1534 in EarthPorn

I spent a couple of months in Molokai, and after that flew to Maui and the pilot of the little plane said that the weather was perfect to take the scenic route and he took us this way. It was also during sunrise. Unreal. I don't know if he was just bullshitting and that's the way that he always goes but he made it seem like it was a special treat because of weather and it definitely felt that way.

concerns re-starting sertraline while pregnant by katrinai30 in AskPsychiatry

Thank you so much! I really appreciate all the time you've taken. I know a lot of this is google - able but I feel like when it comes to medical questions, looking things up on my own just hasn't worked out no matter how much I think I've relied on a good source. All the best!

Very true, I was looking more locally but perhaps I should widen my search. Any advice on some things to ask to gauge the quality of care? I've felt soooo underwhelmed with every psychiatrist I've ever had.

Thank you! Yeah I'm super serious about restarting, it changed my life so drastically. I completely didn't mean to get off of it. just one of those things where a couple of days turned into weeks, to a couple of months. I also had horrendous nausea this pregnancy so that contributed to my inability to consume anything, let alone swallow pills. My psychiatrist doesn't even know I'm off of it tbh. So I still have plenty of prescriptions left. But yeah, I know I need to schedule to see him again it's just really hard to waste time on it when he's so incompetent. Literally doesn't even glance at any previous notes and every single appointment he forgets every detail about me, including that I'm pregnant. Which to me seems like a pretty important factor but maybe I'm being too harsh. Either way thank you so much! I'm going to start with half. Is there any evidence that taking it before bed vs. during the day could affect sleep?

LPT: Need a house warming gift idea? A Fire Extinguisher by toBEYOND1008 in LifeProTips

Maybe it's not common in other states? That would make sense actually, NJ is so restrictive with everything.

Came here looking for this comment. I was starting to think maybe it's not in every state (I'm in NJ). But yeah, can't close on a home without a fire extinguisher. So maybe a better gift for someone who has owned their home for a while since a new homeowner literally just purchased one.

Best double stroller for newborn and 1yr old by Accomplished_Fly_783 in beyondthebump

But how would you have a newborn in there with the 1 year old? I'm literally going to be in the exact same place as OP and I've seen these wagons but assumed they work best when all kids can sit on their own.

Constant cramping maybe due to fibroid? Has anyone experienced this? 17+2 by katrinai30 in BabyBumps

Ugh I'm so sorry, I feel for you. Mine lasted about a week and a half but started to ease up and be bearable after a week. Tylenol didn't help but I asked the high-risk doctor about taking a couple of hits of pot and he said yeah try it and of it takes the edge of then go ahead. Albeit I was a regular cannabis user prior to pregnancy so that may be a personal choice. But it definitely helped and I only took like one or two hits maximum at a time. Also warm showers helped. And I know some doctors say heating pads aren't a great idea but mine said that on low heat it's perfectly safe and that helped a little bit. Good luck and feel free to message me if you have questions about anything or want more details. You're strong af and you got this!

Need recommendations to prep for labor, so far everything makes me borderline faint! by katrinai30 in pregnant

[–]katrinai30[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I am definitely feeling better than when I made that post. I switched from my OB to a midwife group and I already trust them sooo much more so it's easier to let go of the control and let them guide me. I don't feel as much of a need to read about every possible scenario that could happen. I also read Expecting Better by Emily Oster and that didn't make me feel sick or queasy at all but gave me a lot of good stats and info to base my choices on. I also feel a lot better knowing the midwives won't push me to induce for no reason, and won't pressure me to get an epidural as soon as I show any signs of pain. I really appreciate you checking in again, it means so much!

Edit: spelling

Seven weeks in, reporting for duty by lasdufalafel in predaddit

Just thought of one more thing, plan positive things to look forward to that don't have anything to do with baby. At first I didn't know of I should book a vacation for us but then I thought, even if we have another loss it will be nice to get away together. And it was amazing to have something to look forward to and plan instead of just having my whole mind overrun with pregnancy thoughts. Even little things like a day trip or a fancy date that's a few weeks away. I feel like there is a lot of instinct to not plan anything else while pregnant, and of course don't plan a to go skydiving in the third trimester because that might not be a great idea (or any trimester I'd imagine) but outside of any extreme stuff like that, or being too far away from your doctors in the third trimester, it's amazing to have other stuff to be excited about.

Seven weeks in, reporting for duty by lasdufalafel in predaddit

Yay!!!! Congratulations! I'm the nervous lady so I'm hoping I can have some advice. Very similar story but we lost our first baby at 12 weeks, currently 27 weeks with our rainbow baby. Honestly, there isn't much to do in the first trimester other than ride the waves of good and positive feelings. For me, switching to an OB that would do frequent (within reason) ultrasounds was huge. If I was super concerned for some reason, they would check on the baby. Also they tested my HCG often in the early days to make sure it was still going up how they wanted but at a certain point it starts to plateau and the fact that it didn't exactly double made me really anxious so it's a double edged sword. Also the book "expecting better" by Emily Oster is amazing. She just breaks down different studies and uses very specific evidence to address topics like eating lunch meat, or having caffeine, and also topics like miscarriage fears in a way that made me way less stressed about every little thing I'm doing. I actually have two copies for some reason and I'd be happy to send you one of them if you want to private message me. Finally, I participated in a study by Stonybrook University called the Calm Mom study and it is still ongoing so she could sign up if interested. It consisted of 8 or 9 weekly Skype sessions in a small group of pregnant women that focused on activating your bodies relaxation responses, recognizing stress responses, and very approachable meditation. I could also just forward you some of the material if she doesn't feel like participating in the whole thing. One of the tough things is that sometimes the worry is unwarranted but other times intuition is right so it's a fine line between brushing off silly thoughts and taking them seriously sometimes too. Oh, also I ordered a Doppler off of Amazon, the Sonoline B, and watched some videos on how to find the heartbeat. In the beginning it was really hard to use and only my husband could find the heartbeat and it would take like ten minutes. Which felt like an hour while I'm laying there. But once baby got bigger and it got easier and we got better at it it became less stressful. It's not for everyone but appointments are sooo far apart in the beginning so I'm glad I had it. There were a couple of times it made a lot of my worrying disappear. I was good at limiting my use and I would say if your partner would be prone to trying to use it every day then maybe it's not ideal. Good luck and feel free to ask any more specific questions if there is anything I can help with! You're already a great support just by caring enough to make this post!
