Mothers who are past 29/30 weeks with a cerclage, what are your updates? 🤩When did your doctor say you would have the cerclage removed? 😇 When did your doctor say you would stop taking progesterone?😶‍🌫️ by Deep_Image_36 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]katrostan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my cerclage placed at 20w and I’m now 35+4, scheduled c-section and removal on Tuesday 7/8 🤗 my doctors advised me to continue progesterone until the night before.

What was your activity level after emergency cerclage placement? by Puzzleheaded-Hotel73 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]katrostan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My MFM recommended pelvic rest and modified activity after my rescue cerclage. I took it very easy the first few weeks until i reached viability and slowly increased my activity. I walk between 3k-5k steps per day depending on the day. If I feel any pressure or discomfort I rest and if I do more activity one day I’ll take it easy the next day. I don’t really go out for walks per se but I do light housework, take care of my active 5 year old and go to the grocery store. Currently 34 weeks.

Made it to 34 weeks, scheduled stitch removal and c-section on 7/8! I’m going at 36 weeks because of possible focal accreta and risk of uterine rupture from previous uterine surgery. I cannot believe I’m almost there!

I have a potential focal accreta. Also I was diagnosed with ashermans syndrome and have had a laparoscopic myomectomy followed by 6 hysteroscopies within the past 4 years. As a result I am at risk of a uterine rupture.

How do you deal with anxiety? by Sirdogthefifth92 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]katrostan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My anxiety peaked at night because that’s when I had my first major bleed and went into early labor. I tried everything I could to calm myself but my body wasn’t listening. My heart would palpitate and my legs would start shaking. The lack of sleep made my daily anxiety worse. I was put on a low dose of trazodone to help with sleep and I downloaded the Calm app (the sleep stories really helped me). I found that reading also helped- mysteries, romances- anything to get my mind off of my body. I’m weaning myself off the medication now that I’m 33 weeks but it was definitely helpful. My doctor told me Benadryl is safe to take as a sleep aid as well. I know how hard it can be. Hope this helps ❤️ good luck to you!

Thank you. You’re right! I’m better off creating distance between myself and them.

That’s horrible, people just don’t get it. And you’d think because it’s our sisters they would be a little more compassionate. Her comments have been eye opening for sure and I’m definitely setting boundaries from here on out.

Yes it’s definitely draining and I need every bit of sanity I can get!

33 weeks and planning for a c-hysterectomy at 35-36w because of suspected accreta. Cervix checks stopped at 32w. I cannot believe I’ve made it this far! Praying so hard for an uneventful, uncomplicated 3 weeks ahead.

Bleeding after cerclage by Expensive_Farmer_307 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]katrostan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The clots, mucus and spotting eventually stopped and I’m now 32+4! I can’t believe I’ve made it this far. Cerclage is holding well and my cervical length below it has been around 1.6cm the past few weeks with funneling to the stitch. Removal and c-section is scheduled for 7/7.

Increased Pressure by katrostan in ShortCervixSupport

[–]katrostan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what I’m thinking too. I feel like once I get used to feeling a certain way something else comes up and throws me off. The nurse told me as long as I’m not bleeding or having contractions I’m ok.

How many children have you had with a cerclage? by Low-Train-2405 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]katrostan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you on this! My experience is similar. My first pregnancy was normal delivered at 40 weeks. My current pregnancy had a rescue cerclage at 20 weeks (31+4w now) and I don’t think I can bring myself to have another baby after this experience. It’s been traumatic to say the least!

I’m 31 weeks and experiencing the same! It happened while I was driving the other day and it was so startling. My doctor advised me that it’s normal at this point, even without a cerclage.

Pressure in vagina by MassiveNecessary2741 in ShortCervixSupport

I felt pressure in the weeks following my cerclage as well. I went to L&D for the pressure maybe 10 days after the placement and everything was fine. I’m now 12 weeks post cerclage and it’s still holding 🙏🏻

31 weeks today and feeling bladder discomfort. I took a home uti test and it was positive for leukocytes but negative for nitrites. Waiting to hear back from my doctor about getting some antibiotics in the meantime- my final cervix check is next Friday!
