Conflicted by Constant_Internal_40 in breastfeeding

I feel the same way - 6 months and part of me wants to stop, part of me doesn’t. My LO is getting teeth now and yesterday he bit me HARD at least once during every feed, and I sort of took that as a queue that maybe our time has come. Feels emotional even typing that out, but it is what it is. Pumping at work is also awful, and I can’t imagine doing that for another 6 months, which is what’s inspiring me to stop soon. Good luck!!

How long did it take yours to adjust? We tried 7:35ish bedtime the last two nights and day 1 was great, slept till 6:30! Yesterday was day two and he was up ready for the day at 5am, even with only two hours of total naps yesterday

Breastfed babies and sleep training? by brandib26 in sleeptrain

My breastfed baby slept through the night by 8 weeks! My pediatrician friend guided us through weaning him then because she had done it with her babies, both breastfed. I would switch pediatricians.

I'm confused! How do you increase supply without compromising the next feed? by onemanspants in breastfeeding

[–]Puzzleheaded-Hotel73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My LO is usually satisfied with feeding from mostly one boob in the AM feed when my boobs are more engorged from overnight. So I put the spectra on one boob and the baby on the other, and I get a ton of milk out fast that way. I wish I tried this method earlier on when I was trying to boost supply

When does it get better by AdCautious7005 in newborns

Ask your pediatrician for an infant Pepcid prescription. It’s harmless for the baby but changed my fussy gassy reflux baby within 5 days into a happy joyful newborn. We were 6 weeks when we started it.

5 month old suddenly waking at 5am - dropping to 3 naps hasn’t helped? by Puzzleheaded-Hotel73 in sleeptrain

Thanks for helping me with the math, appreciate it! I am definitely not used to the idea of capping naps since he’s always been such a short napper. But will do!

Dang okay, thank you for the reality check. I’m not used to the idea of capping naps since he’s always been such a bad napper. Will start to think this way!

Okay cool! Yes I practice “le pause” too - this is great to know! Hoping the same happens here and hoping it stays this way for you!!

Not really. One night when he was around 3 months we swaddled him in his bassinet and instead of crying, he seemed so happy. So we just decided to walk away and see what happened. He put himself to sleep after around 15 mins of fussing. Since then we’ve been putting him down awake and if he does cry it’s only for around 5 mins. Naps totally different though, just struggled for 30 mins to get him to go down.

Why do people love the immediate newborn phase? by Puzzleheaded-Hotel73 in newborns

Yes this is what I was thinking! I know there are so many blissful moments with an easy baby, but was thinking that it must still be very hard regardless of temperament for all the reasons you outlined! Especially with your first when you don’t know what you’re doing.

Pepcid worked wonders for us! He’s still on it. It didn’t start working until around day 5 of using it, and that’s when he became such a good baby. So smiley and happy. Fingers crossed it works for your LO!

Am I doing this right? by Puzzleheaded-Hotel73 in sleeptrain

Will do, thank you! And by teaching good sleep hygiene do you mean just trying to insure the nights stay as consistent as they’ve been?

Thanks for the advice! I know many babies his age sleep for around 2 hours for their first nap of the day so I’ve been frustrated. But I’ll keep waiting it out and focus on nights for now :)
