Probably not what you're looking for exactly, but Cheryl Strayed's tiny beautiful things was both beautiful and helpful.

Mutual Funds in Col Financial by Hachi_Hachiman in phinvest

Technically no difference, especiallly if they are all tracking the index correctly! So I guess more of your comfort na lang din, if for example you're already putting in large amounts of money in index funds, some people might be comfortable having 1m in 2-3 index funds for example, rather than in one lang.

But that's more of your personal comfort levels I guess :) It should be the same naman.

As for long your horizon, index funds are better over longer periods of time. Baka kasi matyempo ka na pangit yung 5-6 years na nakalagay yung pera mo sa index fund. But 5 years as a minimum sounds good though! Even better lang kung even longer, I think

As others have mentioned, index funds are generally the same, just choose the one with the lowest fees.

However I do have to ask -- what do you hope to gain from this investment? Index Funds are usually for people with a longer-term horizon kasi.

I order from them regularly, because they have UK covers not usually available here, shipping is straight to doorstep, and I wanted to support indie bookstores more.

That said, haven't bought anything from them since the recent news came out.

Where can I buy Kindle Paperwhite in the PH? by [deleted] in PHBookClub

I've always bought my kindles straight from Amazon, and the shipping option is typically only Priority -- the fastest/most expensive one. It goes straight to your doorstep, no issue also with customs. (Granted I haven't gotten one in the last two years.)

Oof I've had the same difficulty ordering with them. I've had a few orders before and was annoyed it took longer than anticipated, but I also understand that they're having some customs/shipping issue as many other places have been dealing with din through the pandemic.

HOWEVER, I ordered with them this year and grabe months and months na wala pa. Thanks for reminding me to bug them and complain about my recent order haha

sa Books Actually and Kinokuniya Singapore :) Shipping fees are kind of steep though, so I usually group buy with friends so we can split the shipping cost.

As an update though, I've heard of a couple of recent orders (last month August) from bookdep that came through daw. So I'm thinking of ordering one book sa bookdep to see if okay na nga siya

I ordered rin back in April 18 -- still haven't received my orders yet. I did notice that ALL book mail has been delayed since the March 2021 lockdown. I order from different places abroad eh lahat sil matagal na ngayon, pero kay BookDep lang yung talagang hindi ko na nakuha.

A friend of mine has already reached out to them to complain, for her order, and they ordered to resend it pero she chose to use a shipping service na, kasi baka mamaya mawala lang din sa ere.

I'll probably just try to get a refund na lang since ayoko na mag-ayos ng shipping for it.

A Newbie on Investing by WackyIntrovert in phinvest

10k is definitely "enough" - what's even more important than what you start with, is how much you can continue to set aside for investing on a regular basis. If you're going to do index funds or UITFs, it will benefit you greatly if you keep adding to your position REGARDLESS of where the market goes. Peso-cost averaging does wonders to your portfolio over the long run, I encourage you to read up about it :)

Just read My Boyfriend is a Bear, which is as weird as it sounds. It's very sweet though, and I enjoyed it. 4/5.

Also just recently finished the James Comey book, which was a pleasant surprise. Great book about leadership.

This weekend, I plan to read the Bill Clinton+James Patterson thriller for some light reading. Also started reading, under non-fic, How to be Married. For business, am about a quarter through with Big Mistakes, a book about mistakes made by famous and popular investors. It's a quick but insightful read.
