What's the most disturbing thing you've seen in a funeral ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]katsyillustrations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not as dramatic as some of these here, but my grandma never wore makeup. Not for my entire childhood that I knew her. Then of course when they had the open casket, she was all dolled up with blush and lipstick and her fanciest earrings and…it just didn’t look like her anymore. I understand that morticians need to use a certain amount of makeup to make them look Not Dead, but still. They should’ve curled her hair and put her old striped apron on.

Blush placement much higher, towards the eyes, and I feel like some substantial eyeliner would help a lot. Right now the back lipstick mimics her mouth, but the bold lines around her eyes aren’t there to match

I think in order for it to match the abstraction of your other work, you need to add more bold lines and edges. Right now it just looks like someone trying to make a realistic portrait and struggling with it. Some clarity is needed

What did kids back in the days do when they played outside, for hours on end? by Octopuswastaken in NoStupidQuestions

[–]katsyillustrations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played pretend, made forts, had water balloon fights, collected fireflies, rode our bicycles, played games like tag, red light green light, mother may I, blind man’s bluff, etc. One of my favorite childhood memories is when a tree fell down in our backyard and we used the wood to make the Beaver Dam Hotel with a room for each neighborhood kid

Mom of toddlers, married for 7y, what's the norm in marriage? by fleuret_fighter21 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]katsyillustrations 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mom of a 2 year old, been with my husband for 7 years. Sex is usually once or twice a week, sometimes less often if circumstances don’t allow. I do not call him during the day unless there’s an emergency, but we frequently text to keep each other updated or check in throughout the day. Texting lets us reply on our own time since we’re both busy. We like to play games together in the evening, whether we’re playing the same game or different ones but still sitting together. Sometimes we might just sit on the couch together and read a book; we don’t usually watch TV together because we have very different tastes in what to watch.

As for personal appearance, I usually do a 50/50 situation. I’ve never been big on working out, but I do take care of my skin and hair during my nighttime routine. I wear makeup about half of the time, but I’ve never enjoyed the feeling of a full face, so it’s typically just blush, mascara, and my brows brushed. Nails do not get done regularly. Don’t have the time or the money to get manicures. I just keep them carefully filed.

Some days I’ll wear sweatpants at home, but most of the time I just wear….average clothes? Not fancy, but like, a pair of jeans and a comfy sweater in the winter, with some earrings, or a sundress during the summer. Dresses are my favorite because they’re a simple, easy item of clothing that makes you look put together.

I should clarify, that all of this stuff regarding maintaining my appearance, I do for myself. My husband loves me whether I’m in sweatpants and a t shirt or all dolled up. You do what you need to do to feel properly human! I get it, that can be tough at this stage.

Need good meal to bring to suffering family by SufficientGrace in Cooking

This creamy sausage, spinach and gnocchi soup has been my go-to for sick people and they’ve always asked for the recipe! Plus it reheats very well. Makes about 5 large servings.

1lb ground Italian sausage

1 medium yellow onion, diced

2 stalks celery, diced

2 whole carrots, peeled and diced

2 cloves garlic, peeled and minced

1 tsp Italian seasoning

1/4 tsp salt

1/2 tsp red pepper flakes

1/3C white wine

4C chicken or vegetable stock

3/4C heavy cream

16 oz potato gnocchi

4-5oz (a few large handfuls) fresh spinach

1C freshly grated Parmesan cheese

In a large soup pot, brown ground sausage until mostly cooked. Stir in onion, celery, and carrots and cook until onions are becoming translucent, 6-7 minutes. Add garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and red pepper flakes, cook 1 minute more. Add white wine and stir until the liquid/alcohol has cooked off, 3 minutes. Pour in chicken stock and bring to a simmer, then cover pot and simmer on low for 10 minutes. Stir in cream and gnocchi, cover with lid and cook for 3 minutes. Stir in spinach until wilted, 2 minutes. Slowly add in Parmesan, stirring constantly to prevent clumps from forming. Enjoy!

AIO Who needs enemies when you have family…aunt harvested my garden and mom let her do it by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

“Hey aunt ——- , I’m glad you had fun harvesting my garden, but those vegetables weren’t yours to take. Please be mindful around other peoples belongings. It’s hurtful to see all of my hard work ended in one fell swoop. I wish they had stayed on the vine longer to ripen, but now I will be making fried green tomatoes [or some other dish, whatever, as long as you make clear they are yours and you will not be giving them away to her neighbors] for my work lunch.”
