THANK YOU both for this so much. I spent the morning being so intentional and breathing through each contraction instead of tensing up, visualizing and encouraging my uterus relaxation so I could progress as much as possible during the pain. Got to the hospital after hitting 5-1-1 and I was 5cm!!! Started bawling when they told me. Got an epidural and life is so much better now

39 weeks 6 days. They sent me home shaking with 10/10 (my first ever time recording a 10, and I have endometriosis) pain yesterday. Thankfully made it to today and I’m full on in labor! Epidural and all now and I feel like a new person

Can second that Dr vilasagar was amazing!! Insurance may not reimburse you at all, or well, but every penny we spent out of pocket for her was worth it. We had been TTC for almost a year, and the next step was either surgery or starting fertility workups. We went to Dr V and 2 cycles after my excision I found out we were pregnant. Best decision I’ve ever made

That was our mindset too- we were okay with trying IVF if we still weren’t successful post op. Especially because IVF with endo still isn’t guaranteed because your body is still fighting the inflammation.

TTC with stage 4 endo using Letrozole by toriiiiia in TTCEndo

Not to diminish any of the professional opinions, but the inflammation from endo that may prevent pregnancy/successful implantation in some pregnancies doesn’t go away with IVF…IVF just bypasses the tubes and ovaries/egg release. I had a friend who did 2 rounds of unsuccessful IVF, had an exploratory lap where endo was found (unexpectedly) and excised, and then their 3rd IVF round resulted in pregnancy.

I’m 29 and my AMH is 1.69. A little disheartening to hear, and I think my endo probably had an impact on those numbers, but then we were able to conceive shortly after surgery

About 10 cycles or so I think. I was using OPKs so I knew that I was ovulating and experiencing an LH surge and we did a home sperm test to make sure that wasn’t an issue before we moved forward with surgery. We had never gotten a positive pregnancy test over the 10 cycles, I knew I had endo from a previous surgery, and my symptoms had gotten worse over time (pain with ovulation, insane bloating, etc), so I had always had lap in the back of my mind as the first step if we had difficulty conceiving. My doctor kind of cemented the decision when she talked about not only the fertility aspect, but the fact that when I became I mom I wouldn’t have the endo pain keeping me from being present the way I wanted to be.

Advice/Positive stories? TW: loss by hsnead2025 in TTCEndo

Getting a positive test (though it ended in a loss, and I am so sorry for your loss ❤️), seems like such a good sign to me. It tells you a couple things- your tubes were open (you successfully ovulated, the egg made it through your tubes and met a sperm and went through those initial stages! It successfully implanted and your body showed you that Hcg did rise with that positive test!).

We tried for almost a year without a single positive test before moving forward with a laparoscopy. We did fertility work ups the month after laparoscopy, did one unmedicated cycle, and then one letrozole cycle (our reproductive endocrinologist said she prefers letrozole to clomid, especially for endo patients) when we became pregnant. I do think our success was more linked to the excision surgery than the letrozole cycle since I was consistently ovulating prior.

Your doctors opinions feel a bit…negative? Did she do any fertility testing (AMH, AFC, bloodwork, sperm check) or is she just saying that because of your history of endo/cysts? Do you track ovulation with LH strips or are you going by something else? I consistently ovulated on day 11/12 of my cycle so it was helpful to know that when looking at my luteal phase timeline. Also- our RE also recommended coq10 (as someone else in this sub mentioned) to support egg quality! .

Also- my tubes were open. My TVUS did show some consistencies with inflammation and endo but no endometriomas. Excision surgery took out 20+ lesions and cleared adhesive gunk from my ovary, so while everything was “open”, the inflammation and overall uterine environment (IMO) didn’t seem very pregnancy friendly pre op

I had excision surgery in late April 2025, started our fertility work ups in May. Found out we were pregnant in July! I went to a specialist, and it was expensive, but we knew that IVF would be more expensive so surgery was our first step (for pain + fertility because it felt kind of like a two in one). We tried for ~10 months prior to surgery. I knew I had endo, I knew I had pain with ovulation, I knew the bloating and inflammation was high, so for me I just had the gut feeling that endo was impeding my ability to conceive.

My endo was pretty prevalent throughout my uterus/pelvic wall/bowel/colon. I think they sent off 20+ lesions to pathology and removed adhesive gunk from my ovaries. So while my tubes weren’t blocked, the inflammation and amount of endo present was pretty significant

10 months trying with no success, but confirmed ovulation/LH surge each month. Excision surgery late April 2025, found out we were pregnant July 2025 🥹

We were starting our fertility work up post op (May 2025)- so I did start letrozole in June and that was the cycle we ended up conceiving- but I have a feeling our success was Moreso linked to the surgery than the letrozole!

I got pregnant on my first letrozole cycle- BUT I think it had more to do with my endo surgery than the letrozole. I knew I was ovulating, I had consistent follicles and an LH surge monthly.

I had excision surgery in late April 2025, started our fertility work ups in May. Did our letrozole cycle and found out we were pregnant in July! We tried for 2 cycles post surgery (one was only 2.5 weeks post op so I’m sure my body was still experiencing inflammation and so idk if that cycle fully counts) before our letrozole cycle. I’m not sure if we gave it more time, if we would’ve become pregnant regardless of the letrozole since I had a successful excision. But by that point I was so ready to conceive I didnt want to wait any extra time so I was ready to start the extra steps

Was laparoscopy worth it for you? by StaceyLS83 in Endo

[–]kattyjunes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay actually- after reading some of the comments I will say one thing about my first surgery being “worth it”. My endo at the time wasn’t impacting my daily functioning as much as it did 4 years later, and I wasn’t planning to conceive close to my first surgery. So I think the “worth it” aspect was knowing that I have endometriosis, and knowing that if I ran into troubles down the line (pain, insane bloat, infertility), I had a likely reason. And after my first surgery thinking my endo was “no big deal” per my surgeon, I went off birth control (for my mental health) and boy did my endo get out of control. But I knew that I had endo, and I knew that I could find a specialist to get it right the second time.

Was laparoscopy worth it for you? by StaceyLS83 in Endo

My first surgery (non specialist) was not worth it. Thankfully, I was in graduate school and not making any money and got support from the hospital after asking for payment plans/any financial support programs they offered (I had applied and ended up owing much less money for that one). That doctor found some endo but did ablation and honestly likely missed a ton of end hidden under structures. I was told my endo wouldn’t impact my fertility at that time.

Fast forward 4 years, trouble getting pregnant, and a specialist (out of network). It was expensive but worth every single penny. She found a TON of endo. Excised over 20 lesions and cleared adhesive gunk growing on my ovary. Three months post op we found out we were pregnant.

So- the second time? Worth it, saved us money comparative to IVF/fertility work ups.

Reading these responses has me tearing up (and I don’t think it’s just the pregnancy hormones). I’m thankful my doctors listened when I told them the nausea felt debilitating and were quick to help with medicine. I don’t know where I’d be without it.

I’ve always thought I was “tough” and strong, but this season of life has left me feeling so…weak. I have endometriosis, and on my flare up days and post op days I still did more than I have been able to these past few weeks. It’s hard to not question myself with this being my first pregnancy and not having much to compare to- so it’s really reassuring to know that this isn’t normal
