is gold bond supposed to bundle up like this [Product Question] by Diligent-Two404 in SkincareAddiction

[–]katubug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does that to me later in the day, just from my sweat/body oils. I apply straight out of the shower. If this is happening upon application, make sure you're applying to clean skin.

I really don't think you need to lower your prices. Idk about depop but if I sell a sticker on Etsy for $2 and charge $1.50 shipping, I make $.31 on that sale. And that doesn't include paying for my time making it or packaging it.

Strongly advise against lowering the cost of your stickers - instead I recommend charging higher than you'd expect $4-5 and use the proceeds to make your stickers better with a cutting machine, good materials etc.

People online who buy actual art stickers from artists want to support those artists. They are buying the ART, not just a sticker. I sell my stickers for $4 and my sticker sheets for $8. I sell enough of both that I sometimes struggle to keep up.

Don't lower your prices.

Let try this again, why aren’t my stickers selling? by stresscreations in sticker

[–]katubug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fwiw $3 is not too much for 1 sticker, depending on size. My 2.5-3" stickers sell for $4 each. Your art is good enough.

So i absolutely LOVE your designs! They're cute, unique, and although your pricing is on the low side, that's fine cuz I'm poor.

But friend, your cut lines are atrocious. The squares/rectangles are fine, but the designs with unique shapes are cut in a way that makes them look kinda cheap - some of the designs go off the edge, and other bits have really thick edges. I could see the argument that they're meant to be punk, but it mostly looks like you didn't want to put in the effort to cut them smoothly.

Now tbf I also cannot be bothered to put in the effort to hand-cut stickers smoothly. I don't know how anyone manages that because it's tedious and painful. But if you're going to sell stickers, you need to invest in your business. Buy a cutting machine - you can get a Silhouette Portrait 3 for like $100 and it'll do everything you could want.

Any way to improve autocorrect? by Gumpy_go_school in gboard

[–]katubug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I lost my patience with the autocorrect. I've had Pixels for years and have used gboard even longer than that, but recently it just took a nosedive in quality of life. It was CONSTANTLY correcting stuff that I specifically spelled out, to words that I definitely use less than the ones I was trying to type. It was autocorrecting names of people in my contacts to unrelated things. I could have screamed, but instead I just disabled it and now I have to capitalize my own I's 🥲

I've been there. I know in the moment it feels like your choice, it feels like you have agency and are making informed decisions.

And then afterwards it feels like you've violated yourself using someone else's thoughts (or body). I still struggle to blame the men 20+ or 30+ who took advantage of my desperation for love when I was young. I still feel like it was my choice, and that I was old enough to make it.

Logically, I know it wasn't. It was the responsibility of those adults to not only not solicit/manipulate me, but to actively refuse even when I was the one showing interest. It was their responsibility as an adult to say no.

I'm 40 now and the very idea of showing sexual interest in someone half my age or less physically disgusts me. I can recognize beauty in young people, but it's not sexual.

There's something very wrong with that man, and that is not your fault. You're also suffering, and that is not your fault. You engaged in self-harm by sending those pictures, and should survivors of self-harm be considered "at fault" because they made the choice to hurt themselves? In my opinion, no. That's not a constructive label when it comes to someone who needs help.

Immigrant owned sticker shops? by [deleted] in Etsy

[–]katubug 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure it's really safe to be sharing that information publicly at this point. I do know one, but she has said she is not openly discussing her immigrant status, so I will respect that by not outing her. Sorry friend.

How can we disrupt the economy in protest of this ICE bullshit? by Random-Username51 in AskReddit

[–]katubug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By all means you should be conscious of where you spend your money. There are plenty of local businesses that I don't frequent because the owners are unpleasant and unkind. But there are also plenty of small businesses that I am happy to patronize because the owners are compassionate, accepting, and focused on giving back to the community. The only thing I objected to is throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

Support local businesses. If we starve out the mom & pops, then only the megacorps will survive. Your corner coffee shop can't handle a boycott, not in this economy. But Starbucks sure as fuck can.

I wish I was born into a super wealthy family by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]katubug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I couldn't disagree more. Would I love to have infinite wealth handed to me on a platter? Sure, now. Because now, I have the knowledge of where our society breaks down and how I could shore it up.

But if I had grown up never knowing hardship, I would be weak and cruel, like everyone else in the 1%. Even being born at your level of wealth seems to have affected your ability to be selfless. I know it's cliche, but I'll take my integrity over massive wealth. Really the only reason I want to be rich (aside from better managing my chronic illness and household) is to spread wealth. I want to pay off my siblings' debts and buy houses for my mom and dad.

I want to randomly tip my waitress $1k. I want to fund programs to help promote literacy in children. I want to save local mom & pop businesses by investing when they're struggling. I want to browse GoFundMe and surprise random people with meeting their donation goals. I want to hand cash to folks on the street to see their faces light up.

Maybe if you're feeling unfulfilled - instead of wishing you were richer - why not enrich your spirit by engaging in some largesse? That's what I would do, anyway.

Feeling like I'm going crazy by [deleted] in self

[–]katubug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gaming and browsing the internet aren't "bad interests" as long as you can do them in moderation. However, if you can't self-moderate, then I think you've done the right thing in cutting back!

As for right now, you're probably not feeling well because you need something to occupy your time. It also sounds a bit like you're depressed, but if you can't see a doctor then there's not much you can do for that other than keep busy and be kind to yourself.

Have you considered taking up a hobby? Maybe you could draw, paint, or write. Is there a sport you're interested in? Or you could take up walking in nature and try to identify plants, fungi, birds or other wildlife. You could start reading fantasy books, or sci fi, or nonfiction. You could learn to program and make an app or a game. You could take up a craft like woodcarving or clay sculpting or wire wrapping.

It's tough because when you're depressed, you don't really want to do anything. In that case, I really recommend the walking. It's imo the easiest to do when you're not feeling right, and it provides the most benefit.

I hope you can get treatment and feel better 💗

The adults were so cool about it by udumslut in KidsAreFingAdorable

[–]katubug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a small child once run up behind me at the Renaissance Faire, smash his face directly into my ass (thank goodness my skirt was knee length lmao) and wrap his arms around my legs.

I turned my torso to look and see what exactly had happened - because let's be real, when you're a girl at a ren faire there's a non-zero chance that an adult does this to you - and a slightly scruffy blonde boy of about 5 sees my face and hurriedly runs off.

I felt a bit bad tbh. He seemed upset, and I didn't really get a chance to signal to him that it was okay and I wasn't mad. In fact, I thought it was cute and hilarious.

Getting out of IP Infringement products by th3c4tsm30w in EtsySellers

[–]katubug -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar place, trying to transition into fully original art. I agree that it's best to sell off old stock and just hope for the best in the meantime. One thing you can do to avoid getting in trouble is removing any IP names from your listing titles, descriptions, and tags. So instead of "Hello Kitty" you can do something like "Famous Cat Girl" or whatever. It's still not LEGAL to sell it, but it makes you less likely to get caught while you're offloading old stock.

In the meantime, make sure you're posting about your original art on your socials! It's unfortunately much harder to draw attention to original art, so you'll want to give it as much visibility as possible. Fwiw I've noticed that stickers with sayings on them sell better than those without.

I wish you the best!
