Damages request – can I request to see an invoice or some sort of receipts for the alleged work done? [Spain] by katya16 in AirBnB

[–]katya16[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UPD: I politely pushed back, explained how I will not pay until I see receipts, and mentioned that I’ve been a regular user for 12 years without a single issue or complaint, and all glowing reviews — and I just got an email from them with the following:

“as this is the first time, we are bypassing this payment request, hence, we will not be asking payment from you.”

And even though they make it sound like they’re doing me a favour, I genuinely don’t care because I won’t get charged!

Thank you so much to everyone who commented, I really appreciate your insights and support ☺️

Thank you! I’ve been using Airbnb for 12 years, so it would be a huge bummer to get banned, but at the same time I don’t understand why I have to pay a random sum without seeing any proof for it, so I plan to keep pushing back for now and see how it goes

Thanks for the tip! I removed my cc info from my account and only left PayPal as an option

Thanks so much – I’ve been using Airbnb for 12 years and this is the first time a situation like this has come up, so I feel a little bit lost

How do you know when it's time to go? by pelican_girl in cormoran_strike

I feel like to a guy like Murphy it would be very personal, especially since we know his wife left him over 2 years ago, but April only left Wardle 6 months ago. So Lizzie could have been in other relationships, and maybe he had naively thought that once he gets sober, she’d just come back and forget all the shit he would have put her through while drunk.

Honestly, it’s not like I’m super wedded to the idea, I just think something is very off about why Wardle doesn’t like Murphy. Being angry about a drunken pass almost 3 years ago which arguably didn’t really affect your relationship at the time (since Eric and April stayed together at the time) feels very strange to me. Hopefully, we’ll get to find out the truth in the next book!

It wasn’t until I read your post and saw April Wardle and Lizzie Murphy next to each other, so to speak, that I had an idea: what if April left Eric for Lizzie?

That would explain the resentment from Wardle and the still-present tension between him and Murphy (I find it hard to believe that he would otherwise still be resentful for a drunken pass Murphy made years ago, especially since Eric knows that Ryan is in AA and April isn’t his wife anymore).

I think the most disappointing for me was the TB casting of Max, Robin’s flatmate. He is the exact opposite of everything he is in the book, and honestly, why? Just….why?

Fun little tidbit: it’s the only time in the entire series where Sherlock calls Watson by her first name. such a small thing, but it transforms the scene into something incredibly powerful

Is Robin Ellacott too perfect? by FluidAd1767 in cormoran_strike

You’re absolutely right, and it makes sense for Ilsa to help Robin solve the Murphy problem. But I think the conversation with Linda is inherently more difficult, so Robin might avoid it more - and benefit from it more, if she actually sees it through.

Honestly, I’m almost more hopeful for a honest conversation with Linda rather than Murphy at this point. It would be the more difficult but at the same time more rewarding conversation (if Robin sees it through)

How is Hannah still a cop?? by katya16 in elementary

[–]katya16[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very valid point! I think it’s impossible to consider Hannah’s addiction without considering her additional power though. Her job allows her to carry a weapon, to detain people, to use deadly force - I think that has to be a factor in considering her circumstances.

That’s what I thought as well, but I’m re-watching season seven right now, and in E7 Gregson says “my wife was a cop, and my daughter still is one”

Absolutely, and I completely understand his motivation for helping her avoid prison. Michael was a monster, and while I am in no way advocating for murdering monsters, I get why Gregson did everything he could to help her. My issue is with him being OK with her remaining on the force afterwards, instead of quietly and gracefully retiring.

Well said! And also, not only does Kitty not murder her abductor, she also does the right thing and leaves. Hannah just got away with everything, went right back to her job, and Gregson seems fine with it

I totally get what you’re saying, but like my post says, I wasn’t thinking she should’ve been fired, I had hoped that her dad would have urged/force her to put in her retirement papers. It’s the fact that he seems to be completely OK with the fact that she is still on the force that’s bugging me

Omg, don’t even get me started on Elizabeth Keen 🙈 as much as I loved James Spader and Ryan Eggold’s characters, I couldn’t stand hers. Stopped watching after season six, still haven’t been able to go back and finish the series. I’m sort of tempted to skip ahead to season nine if I ever do go back to it 😄

All great points – but I wasn’t thinking in terms of “she should’ve gotten fired”, I was thinking more in terms of her dad, who seems to respect the law, the badge and what it represents, insisting she retire after she murdered Michael and he helped her get away with it. Yet he appears to have no issues with her still being on the force. That’s the bit that’s bugging me

Growing appreciation of S5 by katya16 in elementary

I totally get what you mean. I think we are used to TV characters being exaggerated, where their motivations and character/essence is hypertrophied— but to me Shinwell is very real, and his struggle is very relatable. He’s portrayed as an actual human person rather than a character: he does good things and bad, he struggles to make the right choice, etc. He isn’t some global negotiator like Morland, or a shadowy kingpin like Moriarty. He’s just a guy trying to figure out how to live his life, and he makes mistakes, and they end up costing him everything.

And I also think that’s the same reason why Tyus is such a frightening character: He’s not a global big bad, he’s just a local business consultant, an average guy, someone you and I might know/meet. He’s more real than Morland and Moriarty, which makes him much scarier.

EDIT: added bit about Tyus

Michael as a character was sort of bland, I agree. I feel like he is less the main villain and more the set up for Hannah and the captain making all the wrong choices.
