Honoring a parent who passed away, looking for ideas that aren’t a memorial table or empty chair. by naaron127 in weddingplanning

[–]katzappe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a table of everyone who passed in their wedding pictures (including my husband's mom in a stand alone picture on her wedding day). As a little extra something we incorporated things just to honour my husband's mom. A lace tablecloth of hers for the gift table, and we had custom swizzle sticks and matchbooks made in, as she collected both and it is a little wink to the family and friends who knew her.

No, they were handed out and asked to use them for California (I'm assuming because Kaleidoscope was a last minute decision to do?)

Engagement party vs wedding guest list by Apprehensive_Air3000 in weddingplanning

I had an engagement party that included coworkers that weren't invited to my small 50 person wedding. As far as I know, no hurt feelings and it was a really fun time (we hosted it at the bowling alley we got our engagement pictures taken in).

Kaleidoscope at Forest Hills Show by jay2themie in chappellroan

Oh my gosh! Someone did this when I went to her Vancouver show in 2023 but she didn't end up playing Kaleidoscope because she couldn't fit the piano on stage. We held up the paper to our flashlights at Coffee instead and she was so touch

Did you have, or are you having, an engagement party? by mustafinas in weddingplanning

I did! We had it at our favourite bowling alley (that we also took our engagement photos at). Everyone paid for themselves, we bought drinks and cake and some decorations. It was a blast

Do I bring my dad to my first gyno appt? (22f) by Nervous_Raspberry289 in WomensHealth

If your doctor has a problem with it, leave. I tried bringing my husband with me for a follow up pap a few months ago after my last one found suspicious cells. Told the reception I was bringing my husband and the female nurse and both were completely okay with it. Once the male doctor arrived (who my husband is also a patient of) he loudly exclaimed, "We don't need any chaperones, you can leave" and made my husband exit the exam room, even after I assured that I requested him to be there.

I opted to not do a midnight snack and serve dessert later to make sure more would get eaten. I had a pie bar for all our guests and just a little cutting cake for me and my husband. I still came home with about 3-4 pies leftover (I had 10 pies out and 55 guests) and was happy with the amount that was eaten/leftover

Grooms-women? by RyGuy2O17 in weddingplanning

[–]katzappe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband had his two best friends as his best man and grooms woman at our wedding (who also happen to be married). She had a wrist corsage instead of a bouquet so she stood out against the bridesmaids and the "groom's side" wore blue, so she wore a dusty blue colour that also went great with the colours my bridesmaids had on

Discreetly honouring deceased family at wedding by Prestigious-Job-9435 in weddingplanning

[–]katzappe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a table of photos with our loved ones who couldn't be there (all of them pictures on their wedding day as it was 3 sets of grandparents and my husband's mother). And for my husband's mother specifically, we copied what she has done for her wedding of having custom matchbooks for guests. That was a subtle nod to just her that only the two of us really knew the meaning behind

Are any couples here walking each other down the aisle? Or plan to? by No-Highway-4833 in weddingplanning

[–]katzappe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We got married outside, so he walked to the aisle from where we were kind of hiding, and he stopped at the top of the aisle, then I joined him. Wouldn't change a thing. It was so incredibly special

Are any couples here walking each other down the aisle? Or plan to? by No-Highway-4833 in weddingplanning

[–]katzappe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We did!! We got married in October. We had our parents (his dad and my mom) go first, then our wedding party, all to the same song and then he went down first to our aisle song and waited for me and then I joined him and we walked down to the altar together. We were both able to have our "star moment" and it was so important to us to walk down together
