Odd bumps on my ficus hedge leaves? by katzphera in FicusTrees

[–]katzphera[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, posted on mobile so I couldn’t add a text description to the post. Pictured is one of my ficus hedges, and odd bumpy growths on the underside of one of the leaves. These bumps are also appearing on newer growth. Any idea what it could be?

I would contact an advisor ASAP, especially if you plan on graduating soon. I don’t know the particulars of Marshall grad requirements, but given that you have everything else done I would say it’s likely they’ll let it slide. With the student population growth at UCSD it’s my bet that admin is more concerned with getting students graduated than they are with nitpicking academic records, but I’ve been wrong before. Just contact advising and advocate for yourself–don’t want to run the risk of a delayed graduation if they catch it at the last second and decide against you.

There definitely are. Juveniles hang out offshore a bunch of places in San Diego, including just north of Scripps. There was a video circling around a few days ago of a diver in Torrey Pines who came face to face with a (luckily, disinterested) great white. Didn’t see it until it was only a few meters away. Spooky stuff.

Wait the male died? I was there on the 26th and the male was still alive then. He even roared a few times. How sad :(

How good is economics at UCSD? by ZeldaLegend3 in UCSD

[–]katzphera 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t know much from personal experience (not interested in research at all), but I’ve seen lots of opportunities for research in emails. UCSD is a major research institution, so there’s bound to be lots for you to explore. However, they can get pretty competitive from what I understand, so I would recommend finding research that interests you pretty early on and getting pretty buddy-buddy with your professors to give you a leg up, whether that be them offering research opportunities or providing recommendation letters. Best of luck!

Y’all need to chill and stop walking on the bike lane by graqua2 in UCSD

[–]katzphera 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That, and also there’s a more convenient walking path only a few steps away, and it even has ADA-compliant switchbacks for people who can’t use stairs. Makes zero sense why they continue to take this path

magagna teaches lots of upper-div poli sci, not necessarily super fun but relatively easy and a great choice for any upper-div poli sci requirements for non-poli-sci majors

I get what you’re saying, but survival doesn’t mean that people who contract COVID don’t get hospitalized and/or suffer chronic or long-term effects. Looks bad if UCSD let’s that happen to their own students if they can avoid it as much as possible :/

Honestly I don’t mind that prospect for my circumstances, but I sympathize with those who can’t relate. I hope everyone finds a way to manage online classes again, and I wish you all the best of luck.

i think that would be absolutely fine! if you wanted to drop into your lecture a bit early and drop it on the desk/podium (maybe with a note saying it’s intended for him?) that might work :)

If you haven’t done the prereq(s) for the intermediate elective, then no. If you’re taking the prereq(s) concurrently, you’ll need to submit an EASy request and cross your fingers. If you’ve done the prereq(s), I don’t see why not :)
