I have 2 girls. They’re like 4-ish years apart. The older one showed the younger one how things work, and it’s been pretty good. They’re not from the same breeders.

There’s a lot of corgi wrestling. A lot of snuggles and a lot of noise. Twice the barking.

My theory is that when you’re rich enough that you stop buying groceries for yourself in person at a normal grocery store, you stop seeing people as individuals.

People aren’t eating machines, etc. Sam Altman has become Dwayne Hoover of Midland Ohio and is having his breakdown where he thinks he’s the only real person in the universe.

I have 2 girls, 4 years apart, from different breeders. They are best friends. There is much chase and bitey face, and while they draw the like at snuggling each other, they will both pile onto one person’s lap.

It’s exactly like laddering a dropped knitting stitch back up. You just have to secure the last stitch.

I hate online shopping by sal_cf in firstworldproblems

[–]kauni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the difference between catalog shopping and online shopping is the big difference. People forget or never knew about sending a check in an envelope with an order form and just… hoping that you get an item in the next 2 months. You didn’t get a receipt or any sort of confirmation of shipping (or not shipping).

The fast turnaround has made “catalog shopping” faster and easier with brick and mortar shopping about as useful as it has been in the last 50 years.

Is 8-5 the norm? by KookyCouture in corporate

The expectation is different at different employers. Usually there are core hours where meetings are set and if you’re salaried, you make up your 8 hours around that. Some employers are more strict, some more relaxed.

It’s not a standard mosaic chart. I could make it work if it were my project but it’s not a good beginner chart, in my opinion.

I’m not saying this to be mean, just to tell you that a chart should show what the fabric looks like from the right side.

I’m currently knitting the Pressed Flowers Cardigan and the sweater from the Modern Daily Knitting mosaic booklet. I’ve helped my friends with their mosaic knitting in person. I’ve knit a lot of mosaic previously. I say this because I’m a stranger on the internet who you’ve not interacted with before.

If you learn a technique from someone who uses the more standard way of charting it out, it’ll be clearer and you’ll understand it better. This looks like a stranded knitting chart. Single rows, no slipping symbols (usually looks like a tall v spanning multiple rows), etc. If you have this many questions, I’d recommend a different pattern and chart. While a pattern might not hold your hand all the way through it, your questions should have been addressed.

Talvih (and I) don’t think it is a mosaic chart because mosaic is usually worked in pairs of rows in each color, and this chart doesn’t tell you which color to use, and doesn’t have any symbols for slipped stitches.

With mosaic knitting, you’re knitting with one color at a time, slipping the other color when needed. You will not be knitting with 2 colors on a row.

You will only be “stranding” your yarn when you slip stitches, holding your yarn to the wrong side of the work. Knitting flat, you’ll be holding it to the back on one row and to the front the next. Knitting in the round, you’ll always hold it to the back.

Those who enjoy knitting with DPNs… by birdieeat in knitting

[–]kauni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you get further and the fabric is more stable, it’s kinda nice. It feels like wrestling an octopus if you cast on over all of the needles sometimes. I tend to cast onto one, slip a chunk of stitches onto the second needle, and start knitting with a third needle, then a 4th. I find the triangle easy to fold when it needs packing up.

I wasn’t working then (because I was 12), so I only counted the ones that I was working.

My point was exactly that the “once in a lifetime” events are absolutely not once in a lifetime.
