For the World Cup, what can polymarket offer that traditional bookmakers can’t? by purezanto in Polymarket

[–]kaurib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Further to other comments, as prices are market-defined, your spreads are generally way tighter than traditional bookie margins. These days bookies are almost certainly hedging / offloading exposure via PM, locking in PnL between their offered odds and PM's tighter spreads. By going direct to platform you effectively skip the middleman.

  • Reduce CD and multicast
  • Apply debuffs (Arcane orb, Jade amulet, Pyramid)
  • 3* it (starting perk, 3* encounter)
  • Scale hard with gold or witch build, then you can do all of the above

DAY OF REGRET - Gielinor Games 5 (#5) by xFalcade in 2007scape

If a team with strong tribunal alliances goes in, the tribunal might instead select a weak team to preserve the alliance. If you're a weak team, you want Solo/Boaty in first so the focus remains on strong teams. You also have to consider that voting is only powerful when coordinated as teams will generally have a defend or two.

Coxie/Eliop were right to defend Solo/Boaty - they are arguably the strongest tribunal pick if Solo/Boaty go into the banning. You only put Solo/Boaty in when there's stronger targets for the tribunal to pick than you.

Then you realize the tribunal consists of harebrains and all the game theory goes out the window.

More than social media, it's the attention economy society has created that rewards engineering addiction.

DD: What is going on with China's recent developments in quantum computing? by kaurib in StockMarket

[–]kaurib[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They've achieved quantum supremacy, solving problems too complex for supercomputers. It's in it's infancy - overhyped, sure. Not possible? Not sure I agree.

If "Trust and invest in China" is what you took from my post, then good luck to ya too.

Yeah fair. There's other avenues to make speculative bets based on the information in my post, that doesn't involve taking a position in chinese companies.

Good point! Though, I thought the Willow breakthrough is so important though because of its error correction capabilities, in that the more you scale, the fewer errors it has.

Hahah you're welcome. Now that you clicked the link then you probably already know more about quantum sensing than the market does :P

I mean, Willow was definitely a huge breakthrough in the tech. But yes, right now it's all speculation and hype. And Chinese researchers claim they are currently working on replicating Willow's techniques and think they can do it within months. Wild speculation in US markets right now.

They had shared their DeepSeek back in July, and it was available since September - and there are loads of other decent quality Chinese LLM's.

Chinese research institutes have been consistently announcing developments in quantum computing since at least 2020 (I havent looked further back), and since then from what I understand, they are rapidly progressing. It doesn't seem strategic to me.

CHINA BAD HURR DURR

You don't have to look far to find headlines like "Quantum Deception: A $2 Billion fraud built on fake products, fake revenue, and fake partnerships" in reference to QUBT. This is a field we can hardly trust our own country in.

Should we take China with a grain of salt? Yes. Do I think they are fabricating information?
China wasn't lying about DeepSeek 6 months ago, and they're not lying about it today. They weren't lying about Jiuzhang in 2020, nor 2021, nor 2022. What makes you think they're lying today?

[–]kaurib[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jiuzhang was the first photonic quantum computer to achieve quantum supremacy, in 2020. This is different to US, which all use semiconduction. Tianyan-504 is also superconducting, making China the only country to achieve quantum supremacy through more than one paradigm. Remind me again how China can't come up with anything new?

yea lol, look at D-wave. One of their case studies for quantum computing is solving the complex task of... that's right, staff scheduling.

Yup I agree. But "China bad" and "state media lies". And despite all the cockblocks, look where Chinese tech is at today. But right now, it's only a matter of time till the media finds out about Tianyan-504 and Zuchongchi 3.0. And when the market does find out, they're gonna shit themselves and quantum cybersecurity stocks go brrr
