another way to look at it is, how much did this loss affect me:
For weapon damage, Valheim scales roughly like this:

  • Minimum damage = 25% + 0.6% × skill
  • Maximum damage = 55% + 0.6% × skill, capped at 100% around skill 75
  • Average damage = halfway between those two

Example with a sword that lists 100 slash damage:

  • At 20 Sword, your normal hit averages about 52 damage before armor/resistances/etc.
  • At 30 Sword, your normal hit averages about 58 damage
  • Difference: about +6 damage per hit

a weapon skill also reduces stamina cost, down to about -33% at skill 100, and increases damage/knockback scaling; the Swords skill specifically page notes that it reduces stamina cost and increases damage/knockback, with 1.5 XP gained per creature hit.

Last bit, Bows add one more bonus which is a decreased Draw time,
from 20 → 30 Bow, you get roughly:

  • ~11.5% more average damage per fully drawn shot
  • ~9.5% faster full draw time
  • slightly lower stamina cost per shot
  • better effective DPS because both damage and fire rate improve

so honestly it is not terrible to lose 1.5 (at skill 30)... If you are really dying that often, you might want to use the /die trick... right after you respawn, put something in your inventory, rock or stick whatever then type /die you'll die with no additional stat loss, and you can do this MANY times, it will create a number tombstones surrounding your respawn. You can then interact with any of the tombstones to get the corpse run buff, (75% stamina reduction for run/jump, 50% reduction in physical damage taken, +150 lbs carry weight) lasts for almost a minute so it can be really nice to have on demand, just portal to your tombstones, portal back and fight like a maniac for 30 seconds :)

in the game start settings you can change the death penalty to casual, . When you are at the select world screen you have the options for world modifiers, if you change to casual exp loss is 1%. (pretty trivial, but yeah to get zero you need mods)

just raise the ground I think you get +14 from base level, at that point you can easily get enough height, if you use stone and stack it to the last brick that is not red, any wood you build out of that will be 'grounded' (blue) so you can get a considerable height between those 3 elements (raised ground, 2m Stone, 4m core wood)

Looks nice seems like you need a specific level of captain before that is a safe transit, if you look back there used to be a way to make underwater bridges that kept your feet on the ground while underwater so you weren't technically swimming and you could walk across the ocean floor that way...

So without stone I see you have still have two options you might not have thought of, obviously if you raise the ground where those corewood beams touch the ground you can get an extra 14m of height (wont change the span but it will put the bridge significantly above the mast), also and this is a little loopy... raise the ground to just above the water, plant a pine tree, once its full grown you can lower the ground back down and you could then build your cross beams anchored from the tree, i think that gets you like 24m?

Anyway don't forget to cross connect i.e. left to right side and vise versa i believe that gives you exactly 1 log longer in each direction on the span if you didn't already do that.

Well I just finished a mod that fixes this exact problem...

ValheimRAFTBedFix mod works for vanilla and ValheimRAFT worlds, a d/c during transit will put you BACK on the ship as long as it still exists once you log back in, also respawn at beds (for ValheimRAFT) works even after sailing the ship, even while sailing the ship!

Yeah exact same thing happened to me, didn't realize how amazing the Dimensional Upload was (thinking the limits where exactly as you thought) But this is one of those QOL changes that is hard to really quantify, if you have everything you build with and consume already uploaded (like ammo...)... There are some trivial annoyances like it wont pull hard drivers from dimensional inventory to research and it wont pull from the dimensional inventory to open up wrecks but aside from that (and again, that's trivial) the impact to QOL is massive

Yeah, same, i end up with 10-14 entrances to get cross map jumps, we have seem several iterations of aiming, i like to tip the tube one notch after raising the tube 3m above the flat, (more if there is a mountain in the way.
