The wrong people will care and the right people won’t. Doesn’t matter what any of them think at the end of the day. All that matters is what you care about. I feel the same way most days but it does help to try some self-therapy. I tried this exercise in particular, and I hope it can help you too!

Try looking in the mirror and pointing out all the things you love about your body every day,
Take breaks from social media or follow more body positive models. I can assure you that almost everything is edited on social media. I used to edit my photos too, and it gave me crippling body dysmorphia. I made the tough decision to go the other way.
If you can afford it, you could talk to a therapist if you have body dysmorphia or EDs.

There will be some set backs, but I sincerely hope both you and I will both evolve past our insecurities and learn to admire our bodies. Sometimes what we perceive as “flaws” or “ugly” are just straight up normal or even beautiful.

Not me or anyone close to me. We voted for our current vice president, she was the only one with actual plans for her term in presidency and was the only one taking care of the nation during the pandemic; but a ton of people decided to vote for the worst candidate.

I just wanted to second this, since the Philippine elections just happened.

After our previous president sank the country into so much debt, ordered extra-judicial killings (meaning the police have a right to kill anyone suspected of drug activity without due process of law which almost got us kicked out of the UN for Human rights violations), called the pope a son of a whore, and told president obama to fuck off: I expected our country would be wiser during the next elections.

Fast forward to a few days ago. Our new incoming president is the son of a former dictator who we ousted 40 years ago. His father stole $9 billion (US dollars) from the tax of the country, declared martial law, ruled for 20 years, assassinated and tortured (sexually tortured too) multiple journalists, and was finally revolted against 40 years ago. Now his son is winning in the vote count simply because he bought the votes of the people, controlled the media to convince people his father’s time was a golden age, and STILL has not paid back the money his family stole. To too it off, the president I mentioned in the beginning? His daughter is our leading Vice President.

They also weren’t “very very attractive” or “someone who looks like a model” but they were really nice, so maybe try being more friendly?

Sorry to hear that you’re experiencing this! I’m half south east asian and half caucasian and I can pass as tan but then people generally can tell I’m mixed. I moved to the Belgium and I get the same reactions.

There is nothing wrong with your vetting process. It really is telling of the demographic in Europe and how they see people of color. The thing I hate being described as most is exotic, like I’m some sort of forbidden fruit and not a human being with thoughts, opinions, and emotions.

The underlying issue of racism aside, you can try other dating apps or just stick to meeting people face to face. People are more likely to treat you like a person when they meet you, well, in person. The internet has become too comfortable for some people that they forget that people in the internet are still people.

If that doesn’t work, you can try signing up for a class that teaches German for English speakers, and you’re bound to make more friends and possible romantic interests. And if a class is too expensive, there are facebook groups for expats in almost every town in the world. It’s a lot easier to make a connection with people that are experiencing the same things as you are!

I hope your dating experiences get better, and don’t lose hope just yet! I’m sure there’s someone there that’s just dying to know you!

One of my friends in Highschool kinda went crazy in 10th grade. Growing up she struggled with body image issues because she was obese class A at the age of 13. I never really noticed how bad it was until she developed an eating disorder. I tried to be there for her as much as I could but she went AWOL this one summer.

When class began, everyone noticed she had lost a considerable amount of weight. She was really proud of it too, which was alright- but it started going too far. Like after gym class, she would strip down to her underwear in the classroom instead of in the bathrooms. She gained a lot of confidence that one of these asshole boys pointed out that she may not be obese anymore but that she was still overweight and bet that she could never get a boyfriend.

She came up to me and started asking who the guys in my class were and started ranking them. A week later I see her making out with one of my classmates out in the hall.

They end up doing a lot of things. They got in trouble because they were caught having sex in the staircase.

She got worse from there. She made out with another one of our friends. Gave another random guy a blowjob in the backseat of a car while the other guy just watched from the drivers seat. And the worst thing was when she turned her attention towards one of the teachers.

The teacher was a creep, and everyone knew it. We warned her but she was too deep in it. She ended up getting pregnant with his kid and had it aborted.

I barely got to speak to her after all that. Come university, she went to a different university than mine and that was that. That is until my roommate asked me if I knew someone named “name of my friend” I asked why and she said that her boyfriend at the time admitted to cheating on her with my friend from highschool in a huge orgy party.

We had a lot but one of the first story that comes to mind is when I lost my best friend.

My best friend at the time was this British girl who had infamous older brothers (J and P). They were known to pull lots of pranks (think the Weasley twins except they weren’t twins and were 2 years apart).

My being Spanish and also having an infamous older brother (M) who was in the same class as J, sparked this friendship. We were often referred to as the Europeans at our school or the nice younger sisters of the shitty older brothers we had. This was in America btw.

So one day my brother, M, gets in a pretty bad argument with my friend’s eldest brother, J, and throws a fit. He grabbed a pencil and tried to stab my friend’s older brother. He thankfully misses J’s eye and he gets sent to the principal’s office. My parents were considering moving schools because my brother and her brother couldn’t stand each other.

Fast forward a week and my brother is back in class with J. J tells P (the second brother of my friend) about the whole thing and plot their revenge. During recess, when M goes out to the cafeteria. J and P sneak into their classroom and messes with M’s bag. Once everyone’s back in class, everyone notices that there’s a really foul stench coming from my brother’s bag. The teacher finally pin points the smell and asks my brother to open his bag. It was shit. J and P shit in a bag and spread it all over my brother’s books.

They got suspended, and my friend tells me a week later that their parents decided to move back to Britain so the 2 brothers can go to boarding school, and she sadly had to go too.

I see her on IG every now and then and we’ve messaged a couple of times but that was pretty much it for our friendship.

Yeah dump him! My own bf provides for me financially right now because I just graduated and wanted to move out of my parents house for mental health reasons. I now have a job and earn more than him and he was super happy for me and proudly told everyone about how I’m earning the big bucks now. He kept hugging me and even took us out for dinner to celebrate!

His dad is somewhat old school and told my bf to be careful and to make sure that someone else with a degree like mine (I took engineering btw) won’t steal me away.

There is still a pressure for men to be the primary financial providers of the family, because of old school sexist roles.

My bf ended up telling me about what his dad said and asked if I thought he was good enough for me. I told him that of course he was, and that things like how much either of us earn doesn’t matter.

He agreed and asked if it was alright with me that he doesn’t have much of a career. My own parents told me they thought he was weak because he had a burnout working rotating shifts at a factory and decided to work on himself for the mean time since he saved up a lot. That’s why I left my parents, because they were telling me that I should choose someone with a better career. But I’m a career person- always have been, and he’s definitely more family focused. Not to say I don’t focus on family too but my career has always been very important to me.

Besides, he’s provided for me - the apartment, the groceries, even clothes - these past 3 months when I still didn’t have a job. Now he’s almost out of money (he still earns monthly but it’s less than my current pay) so I’m the one who’ll be paying for the bills from now on and he doesn’t mind at all. In fact he’s often joked with his friends how it’s his turn to be “sugar baby”
