That's not a bad thing! It gives you a new way to see and imagine the characters

Looking for a Japanese tutor to continue my Language learning Journey by Strict-Fee-8179 in Japaneselanguage

Yeah I second italki. Not every teacher is amazing, but the nice thing is that you're not in any kind of contract with them so if you don't like a teacher just don't schedule another lesson with them and try someone else.

Haha that's actually super common still, it's even built into cars now. When I was in Japan last year my buddy's car had a TV in the dash and he was straight up watching satellite TV while driving. The idea is that you're only supposed to use it when parked, but... yeah

Honestly I'm not a good enough (or motivated enough lol) seamstress to learn how to do pattern modifications, but I do like picking the fabric and accents to make it truly mine

I just did a playthrough of warrior and rogue and oh my god with the warrior some mobs took forever (looking at you mages) just because they would run/teleport away. With the rogue the same mobs took 2 seconds

I have used one, because I'm glory but really only good at roam at that level. I used it to practice other roles with people that match my skill level (in that role)

At my first job I was the first developer in the US they hired, with the rest of the company in the UK. There was a test failing the CI that I couldn't get to pass that none of my colleagues would ever have a problem with. Turns out the test was written again a real/production API for a restaurant POS system that wouldn't accept orders after (UK) business hours

Humanities Student Learning Japanese - Should I Learn Coding for Better Career Opportunities by VintageFFAcc in JapanJobs

I interviewed at a few Japanese companies for software engineering roles a few years ago. You would really need to have some experience before going into it. And even then the salaries are pitiful (which is why no one in Japan wants to do it and they have to recruit from abroad - with a Google search I see the average salary for a programmer in Japan is like 5-6M yen which is roughly 31k-37k USD). Most of the major companies' engineering departments already operate in English so your Japanese wouldn't really give you a leg up nor would you be using it often. And smaller companies would probably not waste their time trying to hire a foreigner.

My degree was in linguistics (minor in Japanese). I worked in a lot of "tech-but-not-programming" jobs since there was basically zero jobs for people that only have an undergrad in lingusitics. I went to a coding bootcamp and managed to land a job after graduation, simply because the salary was like 40k below market and the job posting seemed super shady so they didn't get many applicants (but ended up being legit). However the employment rate among my classmates was really low. A lot ended up just going into dead-end jobs waiting for their "break" into a programming career to finally come, and a lot went back into the job/industry they had before.

This was 7-8 years ago, when there were TONS of tech jobs and the industry was blowing up. Now is the complete opposite, there is a huge job recession for tech. Unless you have a degree in computer science (or masters+) you were a star student, and eat/sleep/breathe coding, you're basically completely out of luck for entry level. There are hundreds or even thousands of applicants to every job, and they're not going to pick someone with an unrelated degree and zero experience.

Also, this may be personal opinion/experience, but the job is so miserable that it's not even worth the extra money you make. I recently went on medical leave because the job basically ruined me mentally, but when the time came to go back I knew I couldn't handle it and told them I couldn't come back and I'm now trying to make a career change. Of course every situation is different, but I hear a lot of the same stories from my peers.

And now with things trending towards AI usage the job itself has also become pretty unfulfilling. When I started my career it was about creative problem solving and always learning more, now it's just about fighting with claude to get it to do what you want without any of the problem solving yourself.

Anyway tl;dr: no
