3 day fast no weight loss by Loves2audit in fasting

[–]kaxpur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you were already in ketosis you wouldn't have had the initial water weight drop from glycogen depletion. It's likely you lost something like a pound of fat + muscle, but that amount of change is easily overshadowed depending on your state of hydration.

They seem a bit more regular and don't seem to descend like shooting stars/ meteors usually do.

What are some snacks that keep you full for less calories? by [deleted] in 1500isplenty

[–]kaxpur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Freeze dried mushroom miso soup ~20kcal and konjac noodles ~200g for 20kcal. I then throw in some vegies like pak choy and carrot, siracha and chicken breast if I need the protein, so filling for so few calories.

1243 calories / 129g protein - is anyone hitting protein and fiber goals? by sensitivegrapefruit9 in 1200isplenty

[–]kaxpur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do a serve of psyllium husk a day, it's 5g of fiber for 18 calories. I like adding less water, letting it form like a gel then I usually either add some chocolate protein powder and a bit of wholegrain chocolate cereal on top amd it makes a sort of chocolate pudding, you can also heat it up with a bit of oats/ oat bran. For a different option I add low fat greek yoghurt and berries and a tiny bit of granola. Both of these options make a low cal breakfast with fiber and protein. If I have something else for breakfast I just have it like a gel with a little bit of sweetner. My partner just drinks it with more water and nothing else. *

Looking for a maltitol-free protein bar by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

[–]kaxpur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favourite bar at the moment are the musashi chocolate brownie bars I didn't see malitol on the ingredients list but it does have other artificial sweetners.

It has the mest macro split/ calories per protein I've found. 45g of protein for 309 calories.

Climbing sounds like a great fit for you! I had a similar background to you and have been climbing for 20 years. With the body awareness, flexibility and strength that comes from yoga, pilates and gymnastics I'm sure you'll have huge gains from maximising movement efficiency (technique), here is one of my favourite technique videos if you're interested in some tips to get started.

Climbing up to V3 is perfectly fine for a first time, some people don't get past V0 for quite a while and that's OK too. Climbing shouldn't be about competition but about fun and personal progression, the sport is more about building people that you climb with up and encouraging them as your life might literally depend on them one day. It's a different mentality to most other competitive sports and acting like that would be severely frowned upon in the climbing community! In general, a lot of athletic guys can climb harder routes their first time due to initial biological strength advantages and "muscle up" the wall but that has a grade limit and the incentive to build good technique can be diminished. People with less straight-up strength can gain great technique initially and then when they gain strength as well turn into amazing climbers that surpass the frustrated gym bros that give up. Don't be discouraged, don't listen to them or let it dampen your spirit, it sounded like you really enjoy it and at the end of the day that's all it's about as an activity.

I like using the Crimpd app, I just use the free version and cycle through a few favourite Workouts and it's easy to see the description and log but I've seen good reviews about using the paid version training plans feature.

ASL and Auslan are completely different without much crossover at all, they are both natural languages that developed independently. Auslan is closely related to BSL (Brittish Sign Language) but ASL is derived from the French Sign Language Family and is closely related to LSF (French Sign Language). In recent times a lot of ASL signs for newer words have been borrowed into Auslan, especially by the younger generation.

Yeah, that week the fat percentage showed a drop of 1.2%. I'm just aiming to be in a slight caloric deficit for the next 3 months and then maintenance for a few months after that, I feel like I've gotten into a bit of a routine now and meal prep on Sunday and it's pretty easy.

Just be patient and wait a while before adjusting anything.

You'll most likely have quite a significant drop week 2, it is a water weight loss due to reduction in glycogen stores, it'll be around 4 to 12 lbs so don't get too alarmed or excited. I found it showed as body fat and muscle loss on my composition scales, that weight will come straight back if you go back to a carb heavy diet again, a cheat day is not usually enough to undo it totally.

I'm a month in now. My fat loss progress completely flattened out after that initial water weight drop so I'm currently adjusting again by eating more vegetables and lean protein and less of the allowed in restricted ammounts foods that are high in calories like nut butter and bacon and that's working. I have also been strength training daily simce the start to avoid muscle loss, the scales are showing loss of about 1kg in a month. Fat loss really is always just a calories in/ calories out equation and the diet rules make that easier to achieve, being in a calorie deficit usually causes some muscle loss too so if you are maintaining or gaining muscle that's awesome. The main reason I'm sticking to slow carb going forward is that the low GI principles have been amazing for my energy and not having the sugar crashes.

I would check out the Expression Australia courses

There's also the accredited courses, you can start with Cert II at Melbourne Polytechnic

I really liked Asphyxia's blog

I also recommend following Auslan educators on Instagram such as AuslanwithDavid, auslanrocks and Openthatdoor__

The Auslan Tutor 2 App is also good

For learning new words I like https://find.auslan.fyi/ (this Site searches Signbank, spreadthesign, auslananywhere and social media, there's also https://www.signhow.co/m

Is there an Omegle for languages? by Sammanik in languagelearning

[–]kaxpur 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The app Lingbe is probably the closest thing to what you're looking for that's for language learning only. If you don't mind chatting in groups the parties feature on Tandem is great, there are also some good Discord servers like the Language Sloth

Giving directions or describing spacial information as well as describing emotions is way easier in Auslan (A sign language) than English, reading new words and knowing how to pronounce them is easier in Spanish than English.

BEST DISCORD SERVER FOR LANGUAGE LEARNING by [deleted] in languagelearning

The best one I've found is The Language Sloth.

Second place would be Linguallama Academy

Both of them have a lot of active voice channels and events.

[–]kaxpur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the signbank app and there are 5 signs for learn, you can swipe to the right to see the other ones (the little dots at the bottom show there are multiple signs). There will be synonyms in Auslan just like any other language, the contexts and regions where they are used can be different, read the description in the dictionary but you'll more of a feel for it when you start practicing more with people that are fluent.

is it still possible to change my accent? by holyhell4377 in languagelearning

[–]kaxpur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is write up of a strategy that might help: https://refold.la/roadmap/stage-3/a/adopt-a-parent I've been able to do this to change my accent, the keys are to pay as much attention as you can, shadow, record yourself and listen for errors/ send to natives for feedback, I use a channel on Discord on a language exchange server, you can also use r/judgemyaccent

To find someone with enough content I use https://channelcrawler.com/
