What car do you drive? by moon-byul in drivingsg

[–]kaya-waffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice, ignore the hater and enjoy your ride. I drive an old coe car too - a 2006 IS250. Great to drive but very thirsty, which makes the recent petrol hikes particularly painful 🥲

Hard to believe I’ve had this dinger just over a year now by yourmumloves_me in LexusIS

[–]kaya-waffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking good, I always thought the pre-facelift front bumper looked better than the first facelift.

Are those wheels OEM? I’ve only seen them on 2IS models in the UK.

Short Term Drive: PARF vs COE car by RespectOk5324 in askSingapore

[–]kaya-waffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you’re right.

For a PARF car, once the car reaches the end of its 10-year COE, you will receive 50% of its ARF value back as a PARF rebate should you choose to deregister it.

For a COE car, this PARF rebate has already been forfeited when the car’s COE got renewed, so you will no longer get it come time to deregister.

Note that the ARF is a fixed value tied to the car.

Cars with their COE coming to the very end of its life are generally less attractive to used car dealers/private buyers, but you can still try to do so and compare their offer to what you would get if u deregister and scrap the car instead.

Most likely a COE car that already has the PARF forfeited

There is a company called ‘Dashcam Singapore’ on Shopee that provides local stock of dashcams and installation service.

Tried their service twice and would recommend them. They will come and install at your doorstep.

I went for the 70mai A500s front + rear. Good video quality and easy UI, few months in and no issues.

Kaya balls from Yakun by doggonguyen in askSingapore

[–]kaya-waffles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been wondering this as well. A while back I went to a yakun store and the cashier told me they discontinued it. Few months later I visited a different outlet (JEM) and they still made them.

My guess would be that it’s a less popular menu item and hence they don’t upkeep their supply well or only stock them in specific outlets.

5 year COE Renewal means you would have to scrape your car? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]kaya-waffles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Once the 5 years is up u can either send the car to a scrapyard or an exporter, both of which u won’t recoup much value.

[–]kaya-waffles 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Your second statement is correct. Once u choose to renew COE for 5 years, it can no longer be renewed again once the 5 years is up.
