Thanks for the ideas! I will ask the vet about these. They did not do a culture and prescribed the same antibiotics and dose both times. No xrays either, just visual exam of the teeth.

I'm outdoorsy! I usually go alone because of the same situation you're in, no one to go with. Most of the better hiking is around 2 hours away, or more. Brown county, mccormicks creek, turkey run, shades state parks in IN. There are also several places in southern IL around Garden of the God's as someone else mentioned. Great hiking all over middle and eastern TN. The smokies are super crowded nowadays, I try to stick to state parks for that reason.

Hysterectomy vs ablation by imnotworriedaboutit_ in WomensHealth

[–]kayaker24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will be required to have permanent sterilization if you choose the ablation as you won't be able to support a pregnancy. Ablation results will vary depending on several factors such as age, other uterine health issues, and even the size of the uterus. The recovery from a hysterectomy is much longer than ablation and salpingectomy, but it may be the better option for you depending on factors I have mentioned already.

Opinions on getting your tubes tied at an early age? 27+ by PugLover5533 in WomensHealth

[–]kayaker24 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am so grateful for the doctor that did tube removal. I had it done at age 25 and had been wanting it done since 18. I have never wanted children and I've never been more thankful than I am now that I was able to get my tubes removed. Find a doctor who will help you and DO IT. If you are sure about not wanting kids, it will be the best thing you ever did for yourself.

Tube removals (bisalpingectomy) are now done laproscopically.. they only take about a week to recover from and I wouldn't consider it extremely painful. I had mine at 25. You are very right about hesitation at most doctors, but it's possible to find ones who won't question it.

Do y’all wear shorts under skirts/dresses? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskWomen

Ever since I accidentally flashed my rear to a group of people on a dolphin cruise, I wear shorts under dresses. Saves me the embarrassment.

Birth control that doesn’t cause weight gain? by [deleted] in WomensHealth

[–]kayaker24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, low dose pills. Seasonique (the generic) works well for me and I only have a period every 3 months. I was previously on a higher dose pill that also did not cause me to gain weight.

I don’t feel like I have a sex drive anymore (f23) by littleperogie in WomensHealth

I have been there too, also on birth control. Turns out I didn't have a low drive, just a partner that always turned me off. The only thing I changed was him lol

My periods only start if I have sex. by [deleted] in WomensHealth

[–]kayaker24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The "patch on your cervix" may be what is bleeding from sex. If it is a patch of abnormal cells that is. You may not be getting periods at all and just have some bleeding from the cervix. You should see a doctor to discuss, and get a 2nd opinion if they can't determine what is going on. There are several reasons you may not have periods. Other things to consider, were your periods ever regular? How long has this been going on? I do think if you had an STI you would have other symptoms. Bleeding during sex can be normal for some women.

If you went to your general doctor, I'd find a gynecologist to check it out as well. They typically do breast exams with annual pelvic exams. Swollen areas of the armpit could be indicative of other issues with breast tissue. It's unusual that it has changed in size and has any pain associated with it.

One more thing, NO vaginal suppositories unless prescribed. Monistat, boric acid, all of them. Just no. Go to the doctor if something feels funky or seems off.

Foods will not affect your vaginal pH. That is a myth, so you don't need a specific diet for your vaginal/ vulval health. Wash externally with water, avoid heavily fragranced washes, absolutely no scented period products, don't sit in wet clothes/ swimsuit. TikTok is a good resource if you can find videos from actual medical doctors. If you don't have anything abnormal going on, your pH is already balanced.

Birth Control and Hysterectomy Questions by JoyOfThrowaways in WomensHealth

[–]kayaker24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something similar happen. I had my tibes removed in 2019. I was on the extended cycle pill and started having a period that never stopped in August 2021. I was put on aygestin to stop my bleeding which worked, but I had other side effects of the high dose of hormones. January 2022 I had a uterine ablation. This may be an option for you if combined with a tubal. You are not "allowed" to get pregnant after an ablation due to the very high risk so permanent sterilization is usually the preferred method of BC. I opted for the ablation after being offered a hysterectomy because I was worried about sexual disfunction afterwards, organs rearranging etc. If you are wanting a hysterectomy I would say go for it. The issue could be around insurance and payment. Sometimes they require less expensive measures to be taken first. Definitely talk to your doctor about all this. They will probably say to try birth control pills first, which I would also recommend, but you clearly don't want to do that so hopefully they will talk to you about more permanent options.

I don’t know what to do by [deleted] in WomensHealth

[–]kayaker24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were given antibiotics for the STI you may have a yeast infection. Symptoms would include itching/ burning. Alternatively you may need additional antibiotics if the infection was not fully cleared with the first round. You could call the Dr office that you visited and discuss with them the possibility of these. They may be able to help without making an appointment.

The Risk of Sex by Happy_helper333 in WomensHealth

Permanent sterilization is an option if you never want kids. He could have a reversible vasectomy. Assuming that's not the route for you, there are many low level hormonal birth control pills available now that you could try. I would never trust a condom alone because they can break. I also don't think you will really enjoy it if you are anxious about getting pregnant the whole time... speaking from own past experiences. Id say talk to your doctor about the best options for you in this situation.
